Research Experience for Undergraduates
Energy Generation and Storage
At Binghamton University (State University of New York)
DUE February 19, 2016
Theme: Renewable Energy Generation and Storage
Faculty: Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Participating Research Center: Center for Autonomous Solar Power
Dates of program: May 31, 2016 to July 29, 2016
Support for REU students:
$4000 stipend
Housing in dormitories provided if needed
Travel subsidy to and from Binghamton – up to $500

Research activities:
Students will work with a faculty mentor on a topic related to that faculty member’s research. Research will typically involve experimental work using the extensive facilities at Binghamton University. Students will receive additional education training in safety, research ethics, and renewable energy and storage. Group meetings and social activities will be held each week.
Other activities:
Binghamton’s summers are almost ideal for outdoor activities. The university is very near the Finger Lakes region and within four hours of New York City and Philadelphia.
Other organized students groups will be active in the summer at Binghamton, and the REU program will coordinate its student activities with them to offer additional opportunities for all students.
In 2015, we will be exploring an international option for the REU which would include German Science students participating in Binghamton and a 1 week trip to present your work in Germany.
