The evidence provided is submitted in the knowledge that the candidate has attended and passed a course where their knowledge of what has been taught is tested.

Introductory Team Teach Courses and advanced courses total three day’s (15hrs)

Refresher Courses (6hrs) + (3hrs Adv) are mandatory, and occur on an annual basis. The candidate can only attend a refresher course, if they have completed an Introductory and advanced training course within the time frame laid down by the Team Teach guidelines.

The evidence is provided on the basis that additional evidence will be required to support this document.

  • The candidate must have knowledge of where the document is kept, how often the document is updated and what is the reason for its existence...
  • The candidate must point out the basic principal of the use Physical intervention at St. Elizabeth’s in that it is only used to manage risk and not to manage behaviour.
  • The candidate must mention that the use of caring language must be employed when the use of physical intervention is occurring, quoting policy.
  • The candidate must show an understanding and knowledge of why behaviour is never addressed when using physical intervention, and that behaviour must only be addressed when the physical intervention has stopped and the young person is calm enough to listen and understand what is being said to them. Encouraging the young person to believe that they are being kept safe rather than being punished when these incidents occur.
