DC’s Report November, 2006

(Wendy’s Waffle)

Oct 22nd CTD. What a great day we all had. Weather perfect, helpers galore. Thanks to Steph Williams & Mary Dyson for there hard work preparing the day. Thankyou to all the helpers, everyone did a great job. WELL DONE

Note to all Instructors and members. Please stay within your time allotted for your groups. Running over your times creates havoc for everyone else and others are missing out on their time allocated , This is not fair, all our members pay their Pony Club Fees and require their allocated time.. If any group/member needs extra time, please spend time at the end of the day. (Not too much though as we all would like to go home!!!!)

Last chance for Members that would like to compete inState Qualifying Show jumpingand Dressage. These events will be held at WesburnPark on the 10th December 2006. Dressage test are as follows:- Grade 1 Tests C & F , Grade 2 tests C & D, Grade 3 tests B & D.

You must let me know by this rally and the $35.00 entry fee must be paid this rally. (this will be reimbursed after the event if you compete.) I will be posting our clubs entry to Zone with our cheque just after the rally. Any member whom has not paid will not be included. I will not except late entries or phone calls of members wanting to be added. Sorry but it makes it to hard to change thing at the last minute. Zone have also advised, if you do not commit to be available to compete later at the State Championships (Sunday 11th Feb, 07.) DO NOT ENTER THIS EVENT.

Monash Pony Club is holding a showjumping Day on 26th Nov. We can enter teams or individually. Please see me this rally if you want to make up a team. Donna DC from Monash said we are good at this and our club has won it before.

Here is a picture of the 2001 team that won the team trophy ↓Nellie Wilson, Zoë Belot,Melissa Blok, and Bronwyn Potton

“C” Certificate members Please remember to Pay $25.00 this rally as I will be booking you all in for March 2007. I need all of the parents of these members to sign a permission form this rally as well.

New Dressage test books Sep 06 I have ordered these books, a number of them have been sold. Please see me this rally if you would like one. $10.00 each (now A4 size.) You can also down load them for the PCAV web site.

New Helmet now included for pony club, No PAS 015 has passed Australian standards and can now be used at pony club.

Important Information: Northern Metro Zone has advised that a number of riders at competitions are eating and drinking whilst mounted. This is not aloud, not even at pony club rallies. They have also advised that rider are not adhering to warm-up ménage (area) protocol, by cutting in front of other riders, cantering head on and expecting that other riders will get out of the way. I have included Traditional Protocol , Rules of the Ménage in this Rally Round. Please Cut it out and keep it on file. We will try to go through these rules (Which work very well) at rallies.

2007 Games, flat and Musical ride teams (So far) We still need more riders, so please put your hand up. Its great fun!!!! The date has been set for 22nd April, 2007

Calling for Photos

If any one has any photos from rallies or competitions this year could they please e-mail them to me! I would like to out them together at the presentation night. They don’t have to be all horsy they can also be photos from working bees and other social activities which happened this year.

December Rally

This year December rally is going to have a similar structure to last year. Except the afternoon will be more organised. (or so I hope!!!!) and the morning will start earlier.

There will be show classes in the morning just like last year so you are more than welcome to plait up. Riders should be in full pony club uniform for the morning session but more then welcome to change into your T-shirts in the afternoon.

At lunch time there will be a Fancy Dress. So start getting your thinking caps on for a good fancy dress.

Afternoon session will include polo cross, clover barrels, Old English Plate, and novelty races.

Should be a great day with lots of ribbons for all!!!

THE TRAINING OF HORSE AND RIDER TRADITIONAL PROTOCOL

(THE SPANISHRIDINGSCHOOL, SAUMUR ere)THE RULES OF THE MENAGE

When two riders meet, the rider on the right rein must yield the right of way in time by taking their horse one or two meters away from the track and remaining parallel to the wall until they reach the next corner.

The rider practicing shoulder-in, renvers or counter canter, no matter on which rein, must yield the right of way to the rider coming towards them on a single track. When two riders meet in shoulder-in, renvers or counter canter, the rider on the right rein must yield the right of way. Periods of walk, unless very short, should be done away from the track, so that other riders have room to work on the track. The rider practicing travers, piaffe, passage or other special exercise shall have the right to remain on the track on both reins.

When two riders meet practicing travers, piaffe, passage or other special exercise the rider on the right rein must yield the right of way.

A rider in a faster pace should not overtake another rider but turn across the school to the opposite long side.Work on a large circle must be practiced in such a way that there is enough room left for riders to work on the track. When an instructor is giving a lesson to a group of riders they shall have the right of away. Individual riders should ride on the same rein as the lesson group or yield the right of way.As a general rule only traditional paces, exercises and figures should be practiced. Any instructor, rider or spectator should be able to recognize these movements at first sight and therefore anticipate riders’ movements.

Riders should not become so absorbed in their work that they see only the ears of their horse and interfere with the work of others. A riders eyes should take in the whole school so that their movements will conform to those of the other riders in the school, besides which looking down is considered a fault in the art of riding.
