Position:Planner/Monitor & Supervisor of Special Education
Circumstances:Staff Resignation
JobGoal:Administrative position responsible for the development and implementation of monitoring activities and assisting schools in the ISD in remaining compliant with State and Federal Laws. As a Supervisor of Special Education, this administrator is responsible for the implementation of special education programs operated by MAISD and or special education ancillary service providers.
Certification/
Qualifications:1. Eligible for State of Michigan approval or temporary approval as Supervisor of Special Education pursuant to Rule 340.1751.
- Three years of experience in special education.
- Knowledge of State of Michigan special education rules and regulations, staff management, corrective discipline, and finance.
- Knowledge of state and federal special education law.
- Knowledge of or direct work experience with departments/programs to be supervised.

Essential Job Duties:
- Administrative liaison to Ed Plan, electronic Medicaid and IEP System.
- Prepare and continually update the Intermediate School District Plan.

- Report monthly to MAISD Special Education Coordinators, Supervisors and Directors.
- Assist in the preparation of program deviations.
- Monitor teaching certification data.
- Implement Medicaid billing and compliance.
- Investigate complaints.
- Facilitate effective operation of the Continuous Improvement Monitoring System.
- Coordinate planning and placement for students in MAISD special education programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate MET and IEPC meetings for assigned programs.
- Supervise and evaluate personnel in special education programs and services, as assigned.
- Facilitate Special Education public awareness.
- Speak to individuals one-on-one and provide presentations to special education staff.
- Drive between ISD buildings, local school districts and to workshops, meetings and conferences throughout the state.
- Attend occasional evening and weekend activities.
- Facilitate the MAISD Parent Advisory Committee.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
