Position:Planner/Monitor & Supervisor of Special Education

Circumstances:Staff Resignation

JobGoal:Administrative position responsible for the development and implementation of monitoring activities and assisting schools in the ISD in remaining compliant with State and Federal Laws. As a Supervisor of Special Education, this administrator is responsible for the implementation of special education programs operated by MAISD and or special education ancillary service providers.

Certification/

Qualifications:1. Eligible for State of Michigan approval or temporary approval as Supervisor of Special Education pursuant to Rule 340.1751.

  1. Three years of experience in special education.
  2. Knowledge of State of Michigan special education rules and regulations, staff management, corrective discipline, and finance.
  3. Knowledge of state and federal special education law.
  4. Knowledge of or direct work experience with departments/programs to be supervised.

Reports To:Associate Superintendent for Special Education

Employment:Salary, benefits and work year as established by the Montcalm Area Intermediate School District Board of Education

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Administrative liaison to Ed Plan, electronic Medicaid and IEP System.
  2. Prepare and continually update the Intermediate School District Plan.

  1. Report monthly to MAISD Special Education Coordinators, Supervisors and Directors.
  2. Assist in the preparation of program deviations.
  3. Monitor teaching certification data.
  4. Implement Medicaid billing and compliance.
  5. Investigate complaints.
  6. Facilitate effective operation of the Continuous Improvement Monitoring System.
  7. Coordinate planning and placement for students in MAISD special education programs.
  8. Coordinate and facilitate MET and IEPC meetings for assigned programs.
  9. Supervise and evaluate personnel in special education programs and services, as assigned.
  10. Facilitate Special Education public awareness.
  11. Speak to individuals one-on-one and provide presentations to special education staff.
  12. Drive between ISD buildings, local school districts and to workshops, meetings and conferences throughout the state.
  13. Attend occasional evening and weekend activities.
  14. Facilitate the MAISD Parent Advisory Committee.
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
