Criteria / These descriptors represent the minimum expectations to pass the criteria
Presentation / Arrives at the ground a minimum of 1 hour before the scheduled start of play
Attired in smart, well-fitting casual clothing and footwear, the association ‘Off Field” uniform or the official ‘On-Field uniform.
Preparation / Possesses all of the recommended and required equipment (i.e. counter, notebook, pens, bowler’s marker, rubber mallet).
Can provide on request, accurate details of the Playing Conditions for the day’s match (i.e. hours of play, minimum overs, extra time, over calculations, penalties, number of short-pitch deliveries, bowling and fielding restrictions etc.).
Discusses and establishes agreement with partner on the above and confirms preferred methods of on-field communication for the day.
Sets specific and measurable goals for the match in relation to past performances and involves partner in the process of helping to achieve them.
Pre-Match Responsibilities / Appropriate communication with key personnel before the start of play; groundsman, scorers, captains and club officials to ensure play commences on time or as soon as conditions allow.
A comprehensive ground inspection and all potential issues attended to prior to the commencement of play.
The toss conducted as per the Laws of Cricket and all of the above parties advised of information relevant to them.
Match Performance / An excellent posture and presence demonstrated throughout the match.
Effective and appropriate positioning throughout the match.
Effective and professional communication demonstrated throughout the match, both with the provision of information and the response to reasonable questions
Satisfactory collaborative management of unscheduled breaks in play throughout the match.
Answered appeals in a timely and confident manner throughout the match.
Managed unacceptable player behaviour in a satisfactory manner throughout the match.
Checked with the scorers to determine the correctness of the score at all intervals as per the Laws of Cricket.
Post-Match Responsibilities / Completed all post-match paperwork accurately including the checking and signing off on the match result.
Dealt with cases of unacceptable player behaviour satisfactorily in terms of after match discussions, warnings and reporting and willingly accepted constructive comments from the captains about the game and the umpires performance.
