The 26thAnnual North v South Championship for Children, Cadets, Juniors & Seniors. Will take place in the:

on Saturday 4th February 2017
This is the 26thyear of the North / South Karate Championships and each year the event gets bigger and better. It has no doubt become Irelands premier karate event for children, cadets and juniors. The event now is attracting competitors from outside Ireland. It has been very instrumental in helping our young children gain International and World Medals in Europe and else where.
Again this year we will have the SPECIAL DISABILITY KATA CATEGORY for those with special needs.
Also please note extra categories in men’s and women’s kumite to encourage more people to take part
(including over 35yrs section)
Your Clubs are invited to take part in the Championship which we hope will be as good a success as last years, in helping the many children of the associations gain valuable experience in karate competition.
Few children experience karate competition outside their own club or association.
This gives them a great opportunity to have their own all Ireland open based championship conducted under official WKF rules.
As usual the championship will be hosted by the Northern Ireland Wado and will take place in

Your Club or association can enter as many individuals or teams as they like in each of the events. I hope you will encourage all your young members to take part, to give them this valuable experience and help create a united karate through competition.

In the event of one participant entering a category a medal will be awarded.
They will then have the opportunity to take part in the next category up if such a position is available.
Kumite categories will be male and female, 67yrs, 89yrs,1011yrs and 1213yrs, Cadet, Juniors and Seniors. Then split according to height OR grade.
Kata categories will be mixed gender, 6yrs to under 10yrs and 10yrs to under 14yrs. Then split into grades 10th-7th kyu, 6th-4th kyu and 3rd kyu and above. Then Cadets, Juniors and Seniors.
Any entries received after the closing date (25TH January2017) will only be accepted if there is space available in the required category.

Children may enter more than one category provided they go up an age category or grade in kata. / Cadets may enter more than one category provided they go up an age category. Male and female Cadet and Junior Kata will be split into under 3rd kyu and over 3rd kyu if entries are sufficient. / Male and female senior kata may be split into 3 sections for grades if entries are sufficient.
