North Carolina Powerlifting and Strength Sports Hall of Fame Induction Process
The North Carolina Powerlifting and Strength Sports Hall of Fame will accept résumés throughout the year from anyone who would like to nominate an individual for induction. Nominations will be taken for individuals from any “Strength” sport including (but not limited to) Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Strongman and Highland Games. (Please Note: Since the year 2000, the Powerlifting and Strength Sports Hall of Fame only recognizes accomplishments done in reputable “Drug Testing” organizations.)
The NCPSS Hall of Fame Induction Committee will meet periodically to examine and vote on all nominations. An individual must receive a minimum of 75% of the vote to be inducted. The NCPSS Hall of Fame will induct a minimum of two individuals per year.
All inductees must satisfy the induction requirements set up by the North Carolina Powerlifting and Strength Sports Hall of Fame.
Induction Requirements
- Inductee must have gained prominence and distinction in the world of strength sports. Inductee must be of good reputation within the community. (Every effort shall be made to induct individuals of good character and of good standing in their communities.)
- Inductee must have made an extraordinary contribution to the sport in one or more of these following areas:
- Athlete- Consistent high level performance as a drug free athlete in a strength sport for at least 6 years in duration.
Criteria:
- Athlete must have competed in strength sports for at least 6 years.
- Must have been a World, American, National, or State record holder.
- Must have been a World, American, National, or State champion.
- Official- Excellent service as an official, referee, judge, scorer, etc. in a strength sport for at least 10 years in duration.
Criteria:
- Must have served in an official capacity at least 10 years.
- Must have served as an official at 50 or more events.
- Promoter- Exceptional service as an event promoter / organizer, meet director, etc. in a strength sport for at least 10 years in duration.
Criteria:
- Must have served as a promoter of strength sport events for at least 10 years.
- Must have promoted/organized/directed at least 30 events.
- Coach- Outstanding service as a strength coach.
Criteria:
- Must have served as a strength coach for at least 10 years.
- Must have compiled an outstanding record of coaching drug free champions at the level coached.
- Must have compiled an extraordinary winning record or have achieved other outstanding accomplishments
- Multi Media- Outstanding promotion of a strength sport in the area of media (print, television, radio, internet, event announcer, etc.).
Criteria:
- Must have served as a promoter (via multi media) of strength sport events for at least 10 years.
- Must have promoted strength sports through media coverage of at least 100 strength events.
