Deadlines and processing time
Deadlines for students to send in a complete application:
Autumn semester: 1 May
Spring semester: 1 October
We advise you to nominate your students as soon as possible since we process the applications as they come in. The processing time of online applications may take up to 3 months.
If you nominate students under the Erasmus programme please make sure to write the subject of the Erasmus agreement in question in the box “Area of Study”. Erasmus students who do not intend to take courses within the subject-bound Erasmus agreement will most likely be rejected.
Student(s) willbe invited by e-mail to fill in the online application form shortly after you have nominated them. Please be aware that
some e-mail addresses, particularly hotmail addresses, have very efficient firewalls. Some students never receive our system-generated e-mail invitation to apply online. Therefore, we urge you to inform your students that they should contact the International Office if they do not receive the e-mail invitation.
Residence permit for non-EU/EEA citizens
The processing time for an application for a residence permit for non-EU/EEA citizens is 2-3 months, and therefore it is especially important to nominate these students in good time. For details on the application procedure for student visa please see the Fact Sheet.
Nomination is not equal to admission. Please inform your students that an assessment procedure of their academic background will take place, and that they are not guaranteed admission.
Student online application
Students will receive an invitation from our office by e-mail with detailed information on how to apply for admissionand housing. Students will receive a personal pin-codewithwhich they should access the online application. After they have sent the online application they can monitor the status of their application.
Housing
Exchange students apply for housing concurrently with admission when completing the online application form. Please note that students who have citizenship inIceland, Norway and Swedencannot apply for housing assistance.
Students nominated on Erasmus agreements: The housing window in the online application will close when a certain number of housing applications have been received. For the autumn semester the housing window is expected to close already in the beginning of April, and for the spring semester in the beginning of November.
Students nominated according to exchange agreements (general or faculty) with our overseas partner universities must have completed and sent their full online application, including uploaded transcript, not later than 1 May for the autumn semester and 1 October for the spring semester.
An online application can only be considered as received in time for housing assistance if the requested documents reach the International Office before the housing window closes.
Since the housing situation in Copenhagen is very difficult, and the University of Copenhagen is not a campus university, international students who have applied in time are only given one housing offer. Please urge students to familiarize themselves with the housing procedure and types of housing on our website: misunderstandings and false expectations can be avoided.
As the autumn semester is more popular than the spring semester among incoming students please note that housing is easier to get in the spring semester.
Please note that housing for students applying for subjects within Science is handled separately. Information about accommodation can be found on the website:
Please advise Science students to contact for housing application forms.
We look forward to receiving your nominations and the applications from the students online. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at: or or visit the Nominator FAQ at
