Extracts from the Constitution relative to Appointments
33.The Grand Council, at the Annual Assembly, as and when required shall elect the following Officers for these terms:
(a)Sovereign Grand Master (2 years)
(b)Deputy Grand Master (2 years)
(c)Senior Grand Warden (1 year)
(d)Junior Grand Warden (1 year)
(e)Grand Treasurer (1 year)
(f)Grand Secretary (l year)
(g)Grand Registrar (l year)
Each of the above Officers is permitted to succeed himself.
The appointed Grand Officers, therefore, are: Grand Chaplain,Grand Lecturer, Senior and Junior Grand Deacons, Grand Director of Ceremonies, Grand Inner Guard, Grand Tyler, and Grand Historian.
43. Any member of Grand Council may nominate a qualified Brother for an Elective Office in or recommend a qualified Brother for an appointment to the Grand Council and for this purpose the Grand Secretary shall provide to the Secretaries of all Constituent Councils official nomination and recommendation forms by date shown in Schedule 2 [i.e. December 1]
59.The Sovereign Grand Master shall appoint all Officers of Grand Council that are not elected to office.
60.In addition to appointing regular officers of Grand Council, the Sovereign Grand Master
shall also appoint the following:
(a)Commander-General of the Masonic Order of the Bath of Canada,
(b)Grand Bung for Canada of Ye Antient Order of Corks,
(c)Enlightened Knight Commander of the Royal Order of the Red Branch Eri of
Canada,
(d)Editor of The Architect.
61.The terms of all appointments by the Sovereign Grand Master shall terminate at the pleasure of the Sovereign Grand Master, otherwise at the succeeding Grand Assembly as the Election Committee makes its report to Grand Council and, in any case, shall terminate upon the installation of the succeeding Sovereign Grand Master.
