Night Found Poem

Definition: A found poem is a poem shaped from a collection of words or phrases found in one text.

Assignment: Using quotes from your notes (ch 1-9), write a found poem that represents a theme from Night.

Directions: Select words or phrases from your quotes that you think capture the essences of Elie's experiences. Then put them together to create a poem that meets the following requirements:

ü  Your poem must have at least 15 lines. You may decide how many words you will have on each line. Most likely, each line will vary in length. You decide where the line breaks are.

ü  Your poem must have a title. The title should represent the theme you have captured in your poem. The title cannot be Night

ü  The contents of your poem must be true to the book. In other words, it must be representative of Elie's experiences; don’t choose irrelevant quotes!

ü  You must decorate your poem with a design, drawing, symbol, or color that enhances the meaning of your poem. Use color and graphics to further relay the message of your poem.

ü  Be prepared to present your poem to the class
