Pre-K News

December2, 2016

Please remember to send your child’s Friday folder back to school with him/her on Monday’s. Thank you!!

This week has been so much fun! The students have really started getting into the holiday spirit! I have been playing Christmas music playing all day long. This past week we have really been reviewing our letters and letter sounds. We have been listening to lots of Christmas stories! We didn’t do any projects this week because I wanted to get the kids back into the school routine and really work on our academic skills during center time. We have been working on our addresses and phone numbers. We also have been working very hard on writing our first names. I have really emphasized starting at the top, going to the bottom. I also use the terminology of “magic c,” especially for lowercase letters a, c, d, e, g, o. Thank you for all of extra work you do at home! It is noticed and appreciated!

Next Weeks Theme: Christmas Around the World

Christmas Gift Exchange

Here at school we do a gift exchange with the students in our class. We ask that every student buy a $3-5 gift for the gender of sex they are. (ex. Boy buys boy gift, etc.) Please wrap the present and send it to school with your child. We can store the presents here if you would like to send them early. We will put them under the class tree! Thanks!

Scholastic Book Orders

If you would like to buy any books, please make your check out to Scholastic. Any books that you buy will help our class earn points so we can buy new books for our classroom. The more money that is spent as a classroom, the more points we make in order to get new books. Our classroom is always in need of new books. Thank you for supporting our Pre-K class! If ordering online our class code is GVYNX. If you are thinking of getting some books for Christmas, and don’t want your child to see them, just let me know and I will disguise them.

Please send money by Wed.-Dec. 7th!

This way the books ordered will be here by Christmas!

REMINDERS:

Thurs. Dec. 22nd: Christmas Party

Dec. 23-Jan. 3: Winter Break

Winter Gear

Please make sure your child has their name or initials on ALL of their winter gear. We have a tiny coat room where things get lost and misplaced very easily! The children are working on their organizational skills to try to keep everything in one place. Putting their name or initial will help in finding everyone’s things. Thanks for your cooperation!!

Classroom Jobs

Each week your student has a job. This will help them to understand responsibility and make our classroom a real community! I will send home a list of everyone’s job from this past week, so you can discuss it with them at home. (This will also help if they can’t remember their job!)
