Christian Education Youth Leader

Title: Director of Youth Ministry

(Part-Time)

Purpose: to encourage the spiritual development of youth through an active relationship with Jesus Christ and his church. The Director of Youth Ministry will maintain the Youth Christian Education program through teaching, administration, and support for New Hope Presbyterian Church.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will model a mature love for Christ and demonstrate competencies in leadership, organization, and communication skills to create and implement discipleship and ministry opportunities for youth. The candidate must have a passion for youth ministry, relate well to young people and should have served for at least two years in youth ministry leadership - either in a staff or volunteer position. This position will require organizational and leadership skills, which includes supervising adult volunteers and being an active listener to students and parents. Candidate must be creative, dependable and haveexperience working as a team with other staff, parents and church family.. The ideal candidate will foster an environment that nurtures our youth’s relationship to Christ, their families, and each other:

  • The ideal candidate would possess or in progress of possessing a Master of Divinity (MDiv) or Master of Theology (ThM) from an accredited university/college or seminary; however, a BA/BS in Education, Psychology or Christian Education is acceptable.
  • Heart-felt calling and strong desire to minister the love of Jesus Christ to youth
  • Natural love for and confidence in contacting, teaching and building relationships with youth
  • Demonstrate a mature, personal relationship with Jesus Christ including confidence in prayer, reliance on the Bible, a servant mentality and a Christian lifestyle
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic attitude with a passion for seeing youth excel.
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations and age ranges.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide and leadBiblically based curriculum that engages and encourages youth to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Guide youth to develop an enthusiasm for and reliance on the Bible for direction in their lives
  • Develop and utilize the talents and gifts of parent/adult advisors
  • Work with parents to plan consistent/regular retreat and youth outings that reinforce fellowship, study, mission, outreach and evangelism
  • Seek opportunities foryouth to exercise their faith by engaging in acts of service within the community
  • Work with Head of Staff and local youth leaders from surrounding churches to organize partnering mission trips and service projects
  • Develop and train student leadership team
  • Provide regular communication and feedback toHead of Staff, parents and Steering Committee
  • Work with the Pastor to involve the youth in worship and ministries of the church
  • Use social media (Facebook/Twitter/blogs) as a means of sharing the love of Christ with youth
  • Work with the Pastor and staff to seek opportunities to invite and engage families in the community to be a part of the youth ministry
  • Participate in the life of the church, including regular attendance at worship service

Salary: $10,000.00/year

The position will be directly supervised by our Pastor. Our responsibilities to the Youth Leader include regular contact with the Pastor for support, training, planning and evaluation. The Session (Personnel Committee) will meet at least quarterly with the Director of Youth Ministries for a review of ministry goals and objectives.
