Subject: Bombers Updates and Reminders

ROSTER UPDATE:

I’m happy to announce that Nick Stemle will be rejoining our team for the coming spring baseball season in Ballwin. It will be great to have the Stemles back among our team. WELCOME BACK!!!

This would put our roster size at 12, which is the number that most teams in the league have targeted.

OPTIONAL BATTING PRACTICE:

We have another optional batting practice tomorrow afternoon from 4-5pm at Balls –N- Strikes in Ballwin. I have reserved two cages again. We will again break the boys into smaller groups, and continue to work on some hitting technique drills from the Batting Tee, and some soft toss drills.

WEBSITE UPDATE:

Thanks to Gabrielle Higginbotham for updating the contact information on our team website. Please review your information, and let Gabrielle and me know if you have any changes/additions/deletions. Our website address is http://www.ballcharts.com/teams/index.php?team=BallwinBombers .

BIRTH CERTIFICATES:

Reminder: I need a photocopy of the birth certificate for each boy on the roster. Feel free to scan and email a copy, bring a copy to practice, or put one in the mail to me. I need these before the coaches meeting on February 17.

SLUSH FUND:

Rather than collect money each week for batting cage time, I suggest that we collect money for a slush fund from each parent in advance. I could then use the slush fund to pay for cage rental and other miscellaneous expenses throughout the year (i.e. practice balls and additional equipment, if necessary). Once the slush fund runs out, we can pass the hat again. Let’s start with $30 per family, and see how long it lasts. This will probably get us through the spring cage sessions and maybe beyond.

TEAM UNIFORMS:

I have learned that the uniforms provided by the league are simply the cotton t-shirt type, not the higher quality mesh type that I had thought. I have spoken to Johnny Mac’s, and for about $60 we can purchase jerseys similar to the Bulldog jerseys that the boys wore last year, including names sewn on the back. If we buy the jerseys, they will put together a discounted uniform bundle for the pants, caps, socks, and belts which will provide us with roughly a 20% discount on the whole package. Total discounted cost will be about $95 per player for the entire uniform.

Wendy intends to see if Royal Gate Dodge will be willing to sponsor a portion of the costs. If anyone else has a business relationship that might be willing to sponsor part of our team, please let me know. The uniforms are not cheap, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

As for colors, I suggest that we retain Red and Black. We could go with red jerseys with black letters and numbers. Some parents have suggested that we change to black pants instead of the white pants worn last year (they will look less worn as the season progresses). The same style of cap could work with this arrangement.

That’s all for now. Let me know if you have any questions.
