National University – Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management

National University offers a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The program focuses on the management aspects of disasters and emergencies and on developing well rounded decision makers with a strong background in leadership and ethics. Students will conduct research on various government and private sector entities and report on suggested improvements in preparing for an emergency. The program prepares graduates to work with a variety of emergency preparedness capacities such as Land Borders, Seaports and Airports, Threat Assessment, Disaster Management and Crisis Response. The Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management is designed for students who aspire to work in the private security industry or city, state or federal levels. It is also appropriate for military personnel of all ranks, mid-level managers and managers seeking promotion within the private sector to various levels of government.

To receive a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, students must complete at least 180 units as articulated below, 76.5 of which must be completed at the upper division level and 45 of which must be completed in residence at National University.

HSE 475 / Techniques of Interviewing and Interrogation
HSE 490 / Supervised Senior Project*

Prerequisite: (Students must have satisfied all degree requirements prior to beginning this course.)

Upper Division Electives: (6 courses, 27.0 quarter units)

Students can select any appropriate upper division courses to complete the required number of upper division electives.

General Elective Requirements:

Students can use courses from any area to fulfill total unit requirements for the degree based on the results of matriculation.
