PROJECT (please provide a brief description of the project if pre-determined)

The Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) is a competency based 2-year specialist postgraduate training programme. The programme is aimed at Specialty Registrars whose future career may involve working in a field epidemiology post involving field investigation, epidemiology and applied research, and who want to further enhance their specialist epidemiology skills.
Training is provided on the job, but at least ten percent of time is dedicated to formal training courses based in the UK and Europe. Fellows will be based at an approved PHE FETP training location within England for the two year Fellowship. The locations may include a national Centre/Division, local HPU or sub-national epidemiology department. Fellows will not be required to take part in an out of hours rota.

Project Costs

The costs incurred during the 2-year programme will be met by the PHE. This includes StR salary, travel, and subsistence.

Phase 3 of the public health curriculum covers nine broad competency areas. These nine key areas relate to the three domains of public health practice (health protection, health improvement and service quality).
