Outcomes and evidence requirements

Outcome 1

Demonstrate knowledge of bench surfaces for use in a kitchen design.

Evidence requirements

1.1The requirements of a bench surface are identified and described in terms of the benefits for a kitchen design.

Rangerequirements include but are not limited to – heat resistant, stain resistant, easy to clean, non-porous, shock absorbent.

1.2Types of materials used for bench surfaces are identified and described in terms of their use for a kitchen design.

Rangematerials include but are not limited to – timber, stainless steel, natural stone, engineered stone, laminate, acrylics, glass.

1.3Advantages and disadvantages of different types of bench surface materials are identified and compared in terms of their use for a kitchen design.

Rangematerials include but are not limited to – timber, stainless steel, natural stone, engineered stone, laminate, acrylics, glass.

1.4Care and maintenance for different types of bench surfaces are identified and described in terms of a kitchen design.

Rangeevidence of three different types of bench surfaces is required.

1.5Bench surface requirements for incorporation in the supplied concept design are identified from the kitchen design brief.

Outcome 2
