National Campaign for Healthy Food Access

The Food Trust, founded in 1992, is a nonprofit organization working to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food. The Food Trust works to educate the public about good nutrition and to increase the availability of fresh food in neighborhoods throughout the region and the state. The Food Trust works with school districts, supermarket operators, corner store owners, public and private partners and farmers to promote and expand fresh food nutrition education and access. The Food Trust is seeking an energetic and committed individual to support multiple supermarket advocacy campaigns across the country conducted out of our Philadelphia offices that encourage supermarket investment in underserved communities. The campaign objective is to develop public policies at the municipal, state, and federal level to increase access to affordable, nutritious food. The Project Associate will provide advocacy support to include development and maintenance of stakeholder relationships, present to individuals and groups on behalf of advocacy efforts, and research and report on industry trends and factors important to the project.

Responsibilities include:

·  Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders for advocacy campaigns.

·  Promote fresh food financing programs to grocers.

·  Screen applications to fresh food financing programs for eligibility.

·  Present during webinars, meetings and conferences.

·  Research and write reports on food access.

·  Track use of local, state and federal programs related to obesity and supermarket development.

·  Plan and coordinate meetings, conferences and events.

·  Assist other team members with project coordination.

Qualifications: BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study. 1-2 year of related work experience in a public policy or advocacy environment with a focus on social inequities. Experience in non-profit setting and bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

Salary: Competitive, based on education and experience.
