Presidential Scholarship Award Application

The Stafford County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is pleased to announce the availability of the following scholarship award for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Name of Scholarship: STAFFORD COUNTY NAACP PRESIDENTAL SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD

Eligibility Criteria:

·  Plans to be a student attending a college, university, community college, vocational school (public or private) for the upcoming 2014 – 2015 academic year;

·  Must be an active member of the Stafford Branch NAACP Youth Council (this means that you were present at the majority of the monthly meetings and/or participated in activities, fundraisers, etc., during August 2014 to July 2015);

·  Student must submit a sealed copy of high school transcript;

·  Student must submit two (2) letters of recommendation, with at least one being from a teacher, counselor or administrator from the student’s high school or community organization in a sealed envelope;

·  Student must complete the application form and attach an essay of no more than two (2) double-spaced pages, to include (but not limited to); the student’s outlook on the state of African-Americans in the United States, the student’s future goals as related to the state of African-Americans and the student’s current involvement and achievements with regard to school, community, etc.

Use of Award: Scholarship funds may be used towards books, tuition, room and board only

Application Process: Obtain and complete a copy of the Stafford Branch NAACP Presidential Scholarship Application form. Attach your personal essay, sealed copies of your high school transcript, and two letters of recommendation to the Scholarship Application Form.

Deadline for Application: The completed Scholarship Application Form and all eligibility materials must be mailed to and received by the Stafford County Branch of the NAACP no later than July 17, 2015.

Notification to Recipient: All applicants will be notified by mail of outcome of the scholarship application process by the first week of August 2015.
