National 7-A-Side Mens & Ladies Hockey - mixed

R U L E S

Competition Aim

To provide members with the opportunity to take part in a national hockey competition.

Learning outcomes

Hockey skills, teamwork, adhering to rules, exercise, fun, winning/losing and personal development skills.

1.DATE & VENUE - After Area Eliminators, the Final will be held during the Sports & Speaking Event 2010 – date and venue tbc.

2.REPRESENTATION - Counties may enter one team per 600 members or part thereof in Area Eliminators.

English Areas and Wales will be represented by one team per 3,000 members or part thereof in the Competition Final.

3.HEALTH & SAFETY AND CHILD PROCTECTION – All competitions carried out at National level must comply with Health and Safety Legislation and meet the relevant safety standards.

4.ELIGIBILITY - A squad of ten players, 5 men and 5 ladies all of whom must be 18 years of age or over and 26 years of age or under on 1 September 2009 (this age range must be adhere to), and full members of a Club affiliated to NFYFC, may be nominated, from whom seven players shall be chosen to form the team for each game. In each match there can be no more the 4 members of the same sex per team.

Competitors are required in person to produce on the day of each round of the competition (County, Area and National) their current and signed Membership Card, with suitable photo-ID, or a fine of £10 will be imposed for non-production.

5.SUBSTITUTION - If more than half of the original squad members are unable to go forward to subsequent rounds, then the next highest placed team from the previous round will represent the Area.

6.PROCEDURE – A half-size all-weather pitch will be used. The Rules of the Game of Hockey will apply, for more info please visit Please note we are seeking further advice from England Hockey concerning these draft Mixed 7-aside rules (April 2009).

  1. The teams shall be drawn into two leagues. The highest scoring team from each league will play thesecond team from the other league (Semi-Final) to determine the two teams for the Championship Games.
  1. The games will consist of two halves of seven minutes each way with a one-minute interval for half time. The two losers in the Semi-Finals will play off for 3rd and 4th place.

  1. During the game rolling substitution will be allowed.
  1. All competitors must be suitably dressed, i.e. hockey boots, socks, shorts and shirts and the goalkeeper must wear the full goalkeeper kit, including face-mask and shin-pads, as specified by HA Rules. All teams to provide their kits and goalkeeping kit.
  1. A player who is shown the yellow card will be sent off for five minutes and a player who is shown the red card will take no further part in that day’s games.
  1. In the event of the points being tied after all the games have been played, the order will be decided using the greatest positive goal difference. If the points are still the same then the order will be decided by the highest goals for, followed by the lowest against and the results of the game between the two tied teams.
  1. The Final and Semi-Finals will consist of two halves of twelve minutes each way with a one-minute interval for half time. In the event of the scores being equal at full time, a further five minutes each way, with a one-minute interval for half time, will be played. If the points are still equal after extra time a penalty shoot-out will take place with three nominated members from each team taking part. If the scores are still tied, then a sudden death penalty shoot-out will decide the winner.

  1. Each team must state their colours and reserve colour on the entry form.

7.AWARDS – The Worcestershire Federation Sports Trophy and NFYFC Awards to the winning team.

  1. NFYFC prize cards will be given to teams placed second and third.
  1. NFYFC Certificates of Achievement will be awarded to teams placed 1stto 10th.

NOTES:

1.IMPORTANT: Competitors are reminded to read carefully the General Rules relating to National Competitions if they are taking part in this Competition. These are available from THE NFYFC website.

2.This competition WILL carry points towards the NFU Trophy.

3.It is advised to have either St John Ambulance or The British Red Cross with an ambulance in attendance at both County and Area Rounds, and only use qualified referees in order to minimise any risk to members.

4.Members will be disqualified if they are not at the Presentation of Awards without prior permission being granted.

5.The matches must be officiated by qualified umpires/referees.
