Welcome!
There are 3 types of teams your student could be on; the basics, 3 on 3, or 3 on 3 with a peer coach. If you have a preference for your student please let us know.
The calendar is looking like this so far:
· Area tournament is Saturday, January 9th @ MU Student Rec Complex on MU Campus
· Regional tournament is Saturday, February 20th @ various schools in Jeff City, MO
· State Indoor Tournament is March 18-20. Basketball will be held on Saturday, March 19th at Waynesville Schools and courts on FLW base.
We have to attend both tournaments to be eligible to advance to state. Regional tournaments are an elimination tournament, in that you have to qualify out of your bracket to attend state.
There are some other local teams that we may be able to coordinate with and have a game prior to the tournaments. Also, we are hoping to show off skills during halftimes of varsity basketball games. Those dates will be forthcoming.
We are SO excited for our students to experience this fun game, but also the social skills that come along with it.

Concessions
Special Olympics Basketball is new to WHS. So…we need to make some money for the tournaments and hopefully uniforms or t-shirts. We have agreed to take on the Softball Concessions to help us make money.
This type of work will be great for our students because it enhances their math (money) skills, social skills, and working with items that need to be sorted and counted. We could look at it as an extension of Tiger Joe.
Please sign up for dates that you, or you and the student, or just the student, can come and work. There will always be a teacher in the concession stand and with your student.
