Narrator: Good morning, boys and girls. It’s great to see you all today!

Today our lesson is about Barnabas. He was one of the first people to learn about Jesus from the disciples. In our story today, we learn how he sold a field that he owned and gave the money to help other people. It was very nice of him to do something for other people.

Can you think of things that our church does for other people? [Let them volunteer, or prompt with Habitat for Humanity, Great Day of Service, Clothes Closet, Community Action Center, and others.]

Those are all good ideas. We share what we have to help others.

Whiskers: [appearing] I don’t like sharing.

Narrator: Good morning, Whiskers. It’s good to see you this morning. But why don’t you like to share?

Whiskers: Well, I have one hundred and seventy two brothers and sisters. We have to share a lot. We share toys and we share food. We share clothes and we share pencils. We even share Mom and Dad. Sometimes I really get tired of sharing.

Narrator: Oh, I’m sorry to hear that, Whiskers. I’m sure it’s hard to share all of your things with all of those brothers and sisters. But today we’re talking about sharing with people who don’t have as much as you do.

Whiskers: What do you mean? I don’t have much. I’m just a little fish!

Narrator: Well, you have a really big family that loves you very much and you have enough to eat at every meal. There are a lot of people that don’t have those things.

Whiskers: Really? That would be awfully sad, not to have a family.

Narrator: Yes, it would. And that’s why our church helps out others. The offering that you give goes to help other people who don’t have the things that you have. And you can give your time to volunteer to help others, too. Those are the kinds of things we’re talking about today.

Whiskers: Well, I don’t mind that kind of sharing so much. I do bring an offering every week to church.

Narrator: See, that’s sharing in a good way.

Whiskers: Yep. I bring mealworms.

Narrator: Mealworms?

Whiskers: [nodding enthusiastically] Yep, mealworms. They’re really yummy. We get 10 mealworms a week for allowance. I give one to the church each week.

Narrator: That’s very nice of you Whiskers. I think the boys and girls usually give money instead. Don’t you boys and girls?

[pandemonium]I

Whiskers: Well, fish can’t carry money. We don’t have any pockets. We use mealworms instead. But I understand. Giving money would be a good idea, too. I guess sharing isn’t so bad.

Narrator: I’m glad you agree, Whiskers. Bye-bye. We’ll see you later.

Whiskers: Bye everyone!
