Task

In class, you will look at a series of visual texts dealing with the idea of “Into the World”. You will be required to:

a) Choose two texts that represent the same ideas about “Into The World” as The Story of Tom Brennan

e.g. Idea 1: drinking driving

Idea 2: effect of poor choices on family

Idea 3: developing self control

Idea 4: dealing with conflict

b) Analyse how these two texts represent “Into The World” using literary and visual techniques.

At home, you will create a PowerPoint presentation or a paper based booklet which:

a) Identifies three ideas about the process of moving “Into The World” that are represented in The Story of Tom Brennan and the two related texts you have chosen. (1 slide per idea)

e.g. Idea 1: drinking driving Idea 3: developing self control

Idea 2: effect of poor choices on family Idea 4: dealing with conflict

b) Analyses how each composer uses techniques to represent your three ideas (1 slide per textual example)

e.g. metaphors, symbols, descriptive language, characterisation

c) Uses effective backgrounds, fonts, layout, graphics, symbols and key words to present your ideas
