ACTIONS SINCE LAST REPORT:

·  Attended Zone meetings and Zone skittles competition

·  Attended Autumn Forum

·  With Malvern Hills President attended Warwick Charter.

·  Attended Alcester Quiz.

·  Attended Bromsgrove Quiz.

·  Attended Malvern Hills ‘It’s a Knock-out’ for centres with people having special needs. This event was also attended by DG Femi and supported by other Lions’ Clubs from within and outside the Zone.

·  Am actively supporting Stour Valley in preparing for a membership recruitment drive for early spring next year.

·  Attending Sutton Charter on 14 November

OBJECTIVES:

·  To foster goodwill and co-operation between Clubs in their own Zones and with other nearby Clubs

·  To support Zone Chairpersons in assisting Clubs to recruit and retain members

·  Provide support to Clubs where difficulties arise in administration matters

·  To provide leadership and support to Zone Chairpersons in the changing climate of background legislation applicable to Lions activities

·  To provide support and assistance where Zones identify specific projects

7th Sept – Held my 1st Zone meeting hosted by Balsall Common Lions

13th Sept – Assisted Sutton Coldfield Lions with a leaflet drop

18th Oct – Attended Autumn Forum along with 5 of the 6 clubs in my zone being represented.

21st Oct - First round of club visits for the Zone - Completed

I have been attending Erdington Lions club meetings along with Doug Cross to assist and encourage the potential members for that club as membership is very low. There had also been a slight issue with payment of dues which had arisen due to problems with communication but this has now been resolved.

OBJECTIVES:

To assist all clubs with their efforts to increase their membership
To have a successful Zone Project
To ensure my club visits are informative
To ensure all Cabinet reports are produced on time

Marston Green / 18 / 18 / 2 / Membership committee, working hard to attract new members.
Committee now includes Public Relations remit. Achieving good press coverage.
Marston Green Lions, page on Facebook, also using this to advertise events.
Looking to renew ‘Lions meet here’ plaque at Arden Hotel.
One prospect temporarily deferred membership, still committed to joining. Maintaining low-key contact till such time as they wish to proceed with membership. Relative also interested.
Second prospect, passed to us via Doug Cross, is proving very positive. Keen and eager to find out more so, has been invited to attend our next Business Meeting.
Watch this space, hope to shortly report a positive change in our total membership.

Castle Bromwich / Castle Bromwich Festival on Saturday 12 September was a huge success. The weather brought the public out and it was well supported. This may become an annual event.
The Beauty & Jewellery Night on 15 October was well supported, especially by other Lions. Thank you for your support and we hope you enjoyed the evening.
Manned Lions stalls at Castle Bromwich Friends of Acorns Indoor Car Boot Sale on 25 October.
On 12 November, a local sheltered housing group has invited us to talk to them about Lions and to receive a cheque which they will be donating to us. They attend our annual Senior Citizen’s party.
We have been getting our sleigh ready for Santa and begin our usual Christmas run at The Fort Shopping Centre on 28 November. We will be there every Saturday & Sunday & on Thursday evenings until Christmas. We will also be appearing with Santa & the sleigh each Friday & Saturday evening in December at The Ramada Hotel, Sutton Coldfield. / Our twice monthly transport to and from Castle Bromwich Age Concern’s Friday Club continues.
We have again supported Troop Aid with parcels which we understand have gone to Selly Oak.
On 20 September, we provided marshals for The Foundation for Conductive Educations 5k & 10k sponsored races at Cannon Hill Park.
We will be assisting with refreshments and car park marshalling at Castle Bromwich Parish Council’s tree lighting and Carol Concert at Arden Hall on 24 November. / We supported Sutton Coldfield Lions at their quiz/drinks & nibbles on 25 September.
Took part in the zone skittles competition on 11 October. It was a very good night.
Our club was well represented at Autumn Forum, which we enjoyed, especially the keynote speaker.
When possible we will be supporting DG Femi on his club visits
Almost the whole club turned out for a social at Lion Norma’s house on 22 October. I’m not sure what she put in the punch but it certainly packed a punch and gave us some amusing moments. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We are planning a Christmas Meal out in December and on 3 December we will be taking part in Castle Bromwich Friends of Acorns Christmas Quiz.
On Remembrance Sunday 8 November, we will be taking part in the march & Remembrance Service on Castle Bromwich Village Green. A wreath will be laid from Castle Bromwich & District Lions Club.

Marston Green / September 18th - Race Night in aid of Maria Watt Foundation / Christmas Sleigh incorporates distribution of Lions Christmas cakes to deserving (disabled, elderly etc) local individuals, groups.
Provision of litterbins to local cemetery, in conjunction with Bickenhill Parish Council. Bins to be sponsored by Marston Green and district Lions Club and carry Lions logo.
Peace Poster - Awaiting entries from Kingshurst Academy
Looking for suitable candidates for Young Ambassador and ‘Citizen of the Year’.
To provide ‘Dial-a-Santa’ service for children unable to visit the sleigh due to illness / disability.

ACTION SINCE LAST REPORT
1 Alcester Branch Club has now been formed with 9 Members I am continuing to support them by
attending both their Meetings and any of the fund raising events.
2 I have now completed all my first visits to the Clubs in Zone E and have found this to be very
informative and has enabled me to see how we are working as Lions together.
3 The next Zone Meeting is Planned for 3rd December 2009 at the Falcon Hotel Stratford-on-Avon
Our speaker is George Billingham who will talk to us about The Young Ambassadors Project
We will decide on our Zone Project
4 The Zone Skittles Competition took place in October but due to the excellent response we were
unable to declare a winning team and we are due to have the final play off on the 19th November
and Should be able to report the result on the 28th November.
5 I will be attending the first social evening at the new proposed Coventry Club on the 12th November
and hope this will be a success.
OBJECTIVES
I will continue to work with all the Clubs in My Zone.
