DIESEL BOAT REUNIONSATURDAY 6 AUGUST 2016

Gentlemen,

I can confirm that the next Diesel Boat Reunion (DBR) will be held at the Weston Mill Oak Villa Social Club, Ferndale Road, Weston Mill, Plymouth, PL2 2EL(Not far from Camel’s Head Main Gate or reclaimed land as we knew it and is behind Camel Head Fire Station)on Saturday 6thAugust 2016.

Please note that this is a STAG reunion for those that actually served on diesel boats, and many do make a weekend of it staying at local B&B; the Hoe Area being particularly popular.

Food is normally available at £5.00 per head and we can put a pre Derbyshire Submariners order in around May or June time. Further details will be updated on the Diesel Boat Reunion Web page next year, and of course as soon as I receive details I will update everyone in Derbyshire Deeps.

Management. Pitt K has advised that the 2016 will be the last one he is organising though thankfully he has found a relief. The normal programme will be;

There is a £2 payable at the door fee, which covers administration and a charity donation. Can you please get the word around to the very few that are not on email, and maybe interested in coming along to the DBR. Both Pat and I can be contacted on email. . Due to the problems with emails ‘bouncing’ Pitt K has announced he has ditched the email database and people will have to check the webpage for updates and he requests none internet users be advised. Basically there will be no change with the date and programme the same as it has been for 25 years; meeting on the first Saturday in August Annually.

If you are in Plymouth for a long weekend, the Plymouth Hoe Club, 1 Osbourne Place, Lockyer Street welcomes all submariners. If you are staying locally for the weekend it's a popular watering hole for shipmates and a place to meet up before the big day! It opens 12 till Late, and until 8pm on Sunday, unless there are customers in! The Club Contact is TeI: 01752 311512. In 2015 the Club saw extensive use on Friday, Saturday and Sunday where it stayed open until 10pm but it depends on custom!

Derbyshire Submariners. Everyone is responsible for their own transport and accommodation, and with this being the peak Summer Holiday period it is desirable to book accommodation early if you can. Unfortunate experience has established that far from being cheaper booking late, the price actually goes up, with in some cases a take it or leave it attitude. But there is ample B&B around the Hoe, where most seem to congregate. We meet on the Friday from midday (ETA14:00 for Derby Party) at the Wetherspoon’s, Union Rooms, 19 Union StreetPlymouth. A good starter for a ELWE DTS Reunion.

Any Derbyshire Member intending to attend is asked to let me know
