Music in the Parks- Hersheypark

Dear Parents-

On May 19, 2017, the Arcola Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and String Ensemble will be making our annual trip to the Music in the Parks festival held in Hershey, PA. Each group will have an opportunity to perform and be adjudicated at local Hershey area schools, and then will go to Hersheypark for the remainder of the day to enjoy the rides and games. The day concludes with an awards ceremony held in the Hersheypark arena. Criteria for the students’ participation for the trip will be as follows:

  1. Academic eligibility
  2. Consistent attendance to lessons and rehearsals including dress rehearsal and concerts
  3. Regular demonstration of practice efforts
  4. Behavior during rehearsals and concerts

Final cost for the trip will be based on the amount of students attending, but based on an average of 140 students participating, we are anticipating this year’s trip to be approximately $100.00 per student. The price will cover festival entry fees, admission to Hersheypark, a t-shirt, and coach bustransportation for the day in place of school busses.

At this time, we would ask that you return the permission slip below forintent to participate in the trip along with a $25.00 payment to reserve your spot. Checks for all payments should be made payable to MethactonSchool District .If you are sending cash, please send the exact amount in an envelope with your child’s/children’s name on it.

The payment schedule for the trip will be as follows:

  • Friday, January 20th- Intent form and $25.00 deposit due.
  • March 3rd –half of the balance of the payment due
  • April 7th-remainder of balance due

Again, the overall cost of the trip is an estimate, but as close as can be determined at this point. If all students participate, the cost may be slightly reduced. In addition, in the winterwe will hold our Cherrydale Farms fundraiser. If you participate in the fundraiser, your cost will be reduced. Prior to the final payment, each student will receive a letter detailing the final amount owed.
