MUSEUM OF SLAVERY PROJECT

Task:
From the list attached, you will choose one biography and five other topics to research. Present your findings on poster board along with a slavery timeline, map, and minimum of three pictures. Make sure you have all the required elements of your report. You will be given some time in class to do research online, but much of the research must be done on your own. You may also create an art project from the list of options for extra credit. Make sure you talk to me if you need computer time or anything to help you. Don’t get behind!!

Procedure:
- Select five topics and one bio to research.
- Make a time line of at least six major events impacting slavery from 1619 – 1865.
- Answer and include answers to attached “Essential Questions.” These should be written as complete sentences with questions re-stated in answers.
- Draw, print, or copy from books/magazines a picture of the person for the biography plus at least two other pictures that relate to your research/chosen topics.
- Each topic should have a title and a paragraph of at least ten sentences.
- Choose a poster board for your display
- Make sure all writing is typed in at least 14 pt. font. All writing should be in a dark, uniform, color, preferably black. Other colors can be added to highlight certain parts.
- Check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation; ask someone to proofread it for you.
- Include a unique title (not “Slavery”) extra big at the top of your poster. Your name should also be on the front of your project.
- Organize your poster in a visually appealing way before gluing anything down. You may add color matting on the back of each element to add contrast. Don’t forget your name! Make sure poster is very neat!
- You will present your poster, telling the class the most interesting details you discovered during your research
