  2. Upcoming Class Board Elections: Elections for the 2018-2019 M2, M3, and M4 class boards will begin next week. The incoming MSU secretary, Sara Imam, will conduct the elections.
  3. M4 Board: There will be elections for two additional positions for Alumni Relations Liaison.
  4. M1 Class Board Questions Regarding Class Board Elections: The M1 class board expressed interest in changing positions and possibly creating a position for an Academic Curriculum Liaison. Upon reviewing the MSU Constitution, classes are required to fill the following roles: President (1), Vice-President (1), Treasurer (1), Secretary (1), OSR Representative (1), MSU Representatives (2). Social chairs are an optional position. MSU advises the M1 Board to keep both Social Chairs especially during M2 year, as it helps divide the work.
  5. Regarding an additional position for Academic Curriculum Liaison, this position would require an amendment in the Constitution. The steps to amending the Constitution are as follows: 1) the MSU Student Body votes to put an amendment to the Constitution at a general meeting, 2) the measure is voted upon by the entire student body where at least 50% of the entire student body must vote and approve, 3) if the vote does not meet the following requirements the MSU can vote at the following meeting to consider the vote valid in spite of not reaching those requirements. To simplify this, we suggest the M1 Board use the already established channels for curricular changes (i.e., course review committees), and if there are issues the Board can present them at an MSU meeting or a Dean’s Meeting.

III. Report from Class Presidents:

  1. M1- Aaron Perlow: The M1 class is planning another class dinner with specific details to be announced at a later date.
  2. M2- Sahand Ghodrati:
  3. M2 students will take the practice STEP1 exam on Saturday, March 17th. Please make sure to submit the start time form from ACE by 5pm on Wednesday, March 14th.
  4. Please write a letter of support to the family of our former classmate, Amanda Wallinger. Her family keeps the Class of 2020 constantly on their minds as they cope with the loss of their daughter and a letter from us would help raise their spirits during this difficult time. Cards will be placed in the Atrium during the week and later moved to Ministry, due to Match Day.
  5. M2 and M1 classes are planning a gathering against gun violence on Monday, March 19th. There will be speakers from the EM Department, Public Health Department, the Catholic church, and the Proviso community. A banner will be available for students to sign and write messages that will be sent to Parkland, FL.
  1. M3- Mitra Mossaddad:
  2. The class is working on clerkship reviews and are halfway done.
  3. Faculty nominations are being finalized.
  4. Class photos will be taken in mid-April. Please look out for a future email with more details.
  5. M4- Patrick Kramer: On behalf of MSU, congratulations to all the 4th years this week with the Match! We wish you all the best!
  6. Match Day Specifics: M4 students and their guests will arrive around 9:00am with events starting at 10:00am. The Atrium will be very crowded, so please avoid that space during this time to allow room for all the attendees. Feel free to watch the ceremony from the 3rd and 4th floors. Please be mindful of engaging with the M4 student during this time, as the Match can be an emotional experience.
  7. Course Reviews are done!
  8. SAS Post-Match Panel: The panel will be held on Monday, March 19th from 5:30pm to 7pm in Tobin (SSOM 190). This is a great time for M3s, in particular, to learn more about applying to residency.
  9. St. Baldrick’s will be held on Wednesday, April 11th from 1-3pm in the Atrium. The M4 class has been doing this event for the past three years. The event helps raise money for pediatric cancer research. More details on how to get involved will be sent via email.
  1. Reports from OSR Reps: Saad Siddiqui & Julie Mina
  2. The OSRs received many nominations for the 2018 Humanism in Medicine Awards and they are proud to announce that Dr. Bridget Boyd in the Pediatrics Department is the winner! 1. Reports from Stritch University Committees: Dean Nakae
  2. Class of 2022: The Office of Admissions is close to finalize the incoming Class of 2022 after receiving nearly 15,000 applications and interviewing over 600 applicants. Second Look will be on Friday, April 6th and will be a great time to welcome these students to Loyola. Student Life will send out an email to get student involved if they are interested. It is a very busy day and we need help from everyone! Also, new this year will be small group dinners hosted at the homes of faculty members. The Office of Admissions will be looking for student co-hosts to help the faculty welcome the students to Loyola.
  3. Leadership Council with Dean Gruener: This has been a successful way for students to communicate with the administration. Feel free to attend to voice concerns or listen about campus news in a small setting.
  1. Parking: Parking is still an issue and the administration is working with the parking department on solutions. Many issues are occurring due to a lack of parking spaces for everyone on campus and broken gates, which is one of the reasons why the situation has become worse. Administration will keep working to improve parking conditions. For Match Day, we advise students to carpool or avoid campus if necessary due to the large volume of visitors.
  1. Reports from Student Organizations: None.
  1. Student Wellness Advisory Group: The “In Our Own Words II” Event was a great success. Thank you to everyone who shared and submitted their stores. The new SWAG board is being finalized. The current board thanks everyone for a great year!

VIII. New or Unfinished Business:
