AmyMcLaughlin, B.A.

Programmer

Amy McLaughlin is a recent addition to HZA, having joined the firm in the summer of 2016. Working from the firm’s South Portland, Maine office, she has been involved in the development of a comprehensive web-based case management system and two dashboards. The two dashboards are being implemented to provide Maine’s Office of Children Services and West Virginia’s Department of Health and Human Resources with information about the children and families being served through their Title IV-E Waiver initiatives, including demographic characteristics and outcomes. Users may select a time period from which to generate a report, i.e., limiting the report to include data for a specific time period, and trend results over time, e.g., quarterly, semi-annually or annually.

Ms. McLaughlin has also been involved in the development of the case management system for Iowa’s Family Development and Self-Sufficiency initiative (FaDSS), a program that provides developmental services to Iowa families at risk of long-term welfare dependency. She has developed automated data input routines and improved reporting functionality to allow users and administrators to more easily access and modify reports. Ms. McLaughlin has also assisted with the development of a similar web-based case management system for Mississippi Families as Allies, an agency whose goal is to help parents of children with emotional and behavioral challenges be partners in their children’s care.

Prior to her arrival at HZA, Ms. McLaughlin worked as a software engineer at WEX, Inc. where she led the design and implementation of a web-based tool for large fleet and credit application. She was involved in full-stack development of the application used by distributors to maintain compliance with guidelines set forth in the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Preceding that, Ms. McLaughlin was a software engineer at Sony Pictures Entertainment where she implemented large data migration for a telecommunications billing application and performed an upgrade involving table model changes as well as relationship changes. She developed customized triggers, packages, and functions for the telecommunications billing application.

Ms. McLaughlin received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1997. She also was fortunate enough to be able to spend a year studying computer science at the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France while completing her bachelor’s work.
