As a group, read and SOAPStone your assigned article in your blue books. The class will not be familiar with the article you are assigned, so plan a lesson to present during the IO that explains the article and how it relates to the cultural and contextual underpinnings of the work studied. Work together to write 3 discussion questions and a correct MLA Works Cited. Choose one group member to submit your questions and Works Cited to turnitin.com.

Part Four: Interactive Oral

Your group has the responsibility of initiating a class discussion about the culture and context of the work.

How to be a good presenter:

  • Prepare sufficiently and have your material ready to go when your presentation starts.
  • Give your presentation a clear structure so that your classmates can follow it easily and can take notes.
  • Speak clearly and slowly, and be considerate of classmates who ask for clarification or repetition.
  • Link your presentation to the text as often as possible.
  • Use your group’s prepared questions to further class discussion.

How to be a good listener:

  • Take notes during the presentation, making sure to mark any information that seems confusing or might need more clarification. Take notes that will help you write your Reflective Statement.
  • Try to constantly take the information and create your own connections between the presentation and the work you are studying.
  • Ask questions or raise other possible areas of investigation related to the presentation.
  • Be an active participant in any discussion that arises from the presentation.

Whether you are presenting or listening, remember that you are responsible for the quality of this class discussion!
