Remember

  1. The Long Women’s Pull (3/4 mile) is accessed on the 6 mile and the 10 mile trails. The Short Women’s Pull (1/4 mile) is accessed on the 4 mile trail. The National Historic Trail has two options for the Women’s Pull, one is just before the “Y” support area (see NHT map) and the other is over Rocky Ridge.
  2. Wells are shallow: No washing dishes, hands, feet, hair, or teeth, etc. within 100 feet of the pumps.
  3. Please be certain to have a bucket of water by each fire ring at all times. Bring your own wood (except Canadian groups).
  4. Sometimes we are given a “no fire rule” by the forest service or BLM. Normally the fire ban notice is given 1 to 2 days in advance so call and check with us. We recommend that you use propane stoves for preparing your meals.
  5. If we get a lot of rain, we have to close the National Historic Trail. You may use our local trails if the NHT is closed.
  6. Allow about 2 miles per hour for walking time and 30-45 minutes per hundred people at potty breaks.
  7. Trek groups usually make and bring flags. The flag holders on our carts will hold ¾ inch, schedule 40, PVC pipe. Please make your poles no longer than 4 feet. Let us know if you have any questions about flags.
  8. It’s fine to do vignettes along the trail, just remember that a 5 minute vignette will take at least 15 minutes by the time you assemble everyone and then disband them. Be sure not to block the trail.
  9. Parking & Campgrounds: Please follow the Campground Hosts instructions. Camper trailers, etc., must be parked behind the Willie Welcome Center
  10. Generators and refrigeration units: Must be turned off or moved far away by 10 p.m.
  11. Quiet time is from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  12. Trek Leader: Should ride on first bus or vehicle to arrive.
  13. Water: There is no water available on the trails – only at the campgrounds. It is very important that water is carried by each individual and on each cart (we recommend 15 gallons per handcart).
  14. Medical: If someone becomes seriously ill, a medical person must accompany that person at all times. The rest of medical team must stay with the trek group. Personal medication should be carried with the individual at all times.
  15. Trash policy: Pack it in, Pack it out – all the way back home.
  16. No horses; we have no place to keep them. No pets.
  17. Please don’t use channel 5 on your 2-way radios; it causes problems with our transmissions.
  18. Please call 1 hour before arrival. Cell phones may not work. Call from Farson, Rawlins, Lander, Riverton, or Martin’s Cove.
