English / Texts used: Goodnight Mr. Tom, The Water Tower, Greek Myths and Legends, nonsense poems and War Horse.
In writing we will be developing the following skills: to use adverbs, pronouns and connectives to improve sentences. Creating poems, newspaper articles, short stories, fact files and play scripts
In reading we will be developing the following skills: how to retrieve information from texts,
In speaking and listening we will be developing the following skills: mediation techniques and group speaking. Turn taking and ‘good listening’ techniques.
In spelling we will be developing the following skills:words ending with ed, ing, ible/able, on/an, ion, iate, ure/are, ly, ary/ory, ious, ual, ion, our, ar. Words beginning with tri, in, aqua, sub, dis, auto, app, acc and silent letters e.g. knuckle. / Texts used: Biographies and autobiographies, fairy tales and texts from KS2 reading tests.

Mathematics / In mathematics we will be developing our number fluency through: learning the x3, x4, x6, x7, x8 and x9 tables, understanding the relationship between division and multiplication, understanding the place of number up to 1 000 000, calculating the % of any given whole number.
In geometry and measures we will be developing our skills in: measuring angles to the nearest degree, finding the area and perimeter of simple shapes, learning about different triangles and their key properties, reading information from different types of graphs and diagrams – line, frequency, carroll, pictograms, pie charts. / In mathematics we will be developing our number fluency through: improving the recall and pace of the x3, x4, x6, x7, x8 and x9 tables, understanding the relationship between fractions, decimals and %, simplifying, adding and subtracting fractions, using a calculator to check our answers and solving word problems.
In geometry and measures we will be developing our skills in: finding the radius and diameter of circles, the volume of simple 3D shapes how to convert standard measures (mm-cm-m-km), to draw simple 2D shapes accurately. Creating nets for 3D shapes and naming their key properties, / In mathematics we will be developing our number fluency through: consolidating our understanding of grid multiplication and division through chunking (moving to the standard algorithm), searching for patterns in number and learning how to express number solutions algebraically, and solving complex problems involving money.
In geometry and measures we will be developing our skills in: learning about the circumference of a circle, solving complex problems involving time (reading the 24 hour clock), knowing about the relationship between imperial a and metric measures and converting ml to litres.
Science / We will be covering the following areas to develop our scientific skills: electricity,
reversible and non-reversible changes and

Computing / We will be developing the following computing skills: the importance of internet safety, how to merge pictures and texts, searching databases and interpreting information. / We will be developing the following computing skills: the importance of internet safety, creating a multi-media presentation and developing coding techniques.
Safer Internet Day activities. / We will be developing the following computing skills: the importance of internet safety, using control procedures to move vehicles’/objects, design and present a media driven project, select how to best utilize the computing resources available.
