Jady Alvarez is a double winner at Bergen/NJIT Relay Carnival

(Engineers "sealed the masonry tomb" on the Architects 210 3/4-144 1/4 in first annual cup)

The NJIT Track & Field club team had another great weekend with no less than 9 records falling. Sophomore Jady Alvarez(A) had another great day winning the high jump in 5-0, and 100H in 18.45 while taking 2nd in the long jump (3.97m) and 3rd in the 400H with a 76.30 for another school record.

The men lost the team title to Hunter College by only 1 point. The freshman Sprint medley team consisting of Anlee Orama(E), George Obamije (E), Toju Fakankun (E) and Charles Kratochvil (E) broke the school record with a time of 4:07.37. Anlee and Charles teamed up with David Kloc (E) and Carlos Morales (E) for a Distance medley record of 12:30.38. Dave and Carlos teamed up with Eric Gumbs (A) and Joseph Anderson (E) for a 3200m relay record. George teamed up with Tunde Osholake (E) for a long jump relay record and 2nd place (8.70m) while Joseph and Eric took 3rd in the Javalin relay in 62.44m. Mike Lavache (E) scored 4pts in the 400 to help the team close the gap. Eric and Joseph placed 4th and 5th in the 200 (25.67 and 26.96 respectively).

Although a valiant effort was put forth by the Architects, the Engineers came out in full force to claim the first Engineers vs. Architect CUP. Rumor in the "studios" is that the Architects are quietly working on a comeback for next year but I am sure the engineers have a "design" of their own for the next year as well.

With freshmen and sophomores scoring most of the points this season, the future of Track & Field is very bright.

Contact coach Alonso ASAP if you wish to tryout for the Fall VARSITY Cross Country team (M & W) . September is the WRONG time to ask.
