GRADING/EVALUATION POLICY

Types of Evaluation and Weighted Value:A student grade will be determined by the 4 factors: Weekly Participation, In Class/Homework Practice Sheets and Vocal skills assessment, Performance (after school), Performance (during school).

  1. Weekly Participation: 25 points for the week, 5 points a day, 10 possible extra points, 40% of total grade.

Loss of points: tardiness, unexcused absences, talking, using gum, bringing food to the class and other unexcused behavior.

  1. In Class/Homework Practice Sheets, Vocal Skills, Music Theory, Solfege, Ear-training assessments: Homework Practices: practicing vocal technique/handed out practice sheets.

10% of total grade.

MANDATORY CONCERTS:

Failure to attend Mandatory Concerts and/or Dress Rehearsal will result in a drop in letter grade.

  1. Performance Test, after school concerts: 35% of total grade, includes Vocal Production, Effort and Etiquette. Loss of points: unexcused absence from performance, or poor performance.
  1. Performance Quiz, during school concerts and other scheduled mandatory concerts:

15% of total grade.

Loss of points: unexcused absence from performance, or poor performance.

Extra credit will be given forthe participation at not mandatory performances, initiative behavior, working at the choir class room, and other factors.

REPERTOIRE: covers from medieval music through Contemporary styles and foreign languages songs.

Method of Grading and Scale:

90-100% = A

80-89% = B

70-79% = C

60-69% = D

0-59% = F

UNIFORMS:Choir Red Dresses/formal shoes, T-shirts
