Following is an overview of what you can expect this season and also what we are asking of you. We all know that parents are what make this league work, and we appreciate your volunteering. Since there are several areas of responsibility for our team, I have tried to divide them so that all families are contributing equally. If you have questions or comments about anything you see here please do not hesitate to ask.

Opening Day

Arrival time/activities

All activities will be held at the MCLL fields on Saturday, March1. Please arrive in uniform at 8:45a [in the location you are assigned to meet, such as “outside the right field fence on the major league field”]; once everyone arrives the players and coaches will go as a team onto the field. Ceremonies will include introduction of the board, coordinators and teams and delivery of the national anthem and Little League pledge. The booths will open at 10:30a and stay open until 2:30p, and the BBQ lunch will start at 11:00a and end at 2:00p.

Concession Stand/Snack Shack

Six employees are required per shift in the main concession stand, one on each service window, one each to retrieve items for the windows and one each on the cash register. One to two employees are required per shift in the snack shack (located by the 6/7 fields). There are instructions inside both buildings on what to do and how much to charge. A representative from the MCLL concession stand committee will open and close the stand; this means that they will unlock the door and bring you the money, then come back to lock up and take the money with them. Do not expect them to work shifts if our assigned volunteer does not show up.

If you cannot make your shift, it is your responsibility to send a substitute (16 years or older) or trade with another team member. If we do not show for one or more of our assigned duty slots, we will forfeit the next game and Coach [coach’s name] will be suspended for one game. Please send me the name and number of your substitute as soon as possible before your shift so I can let the committee know.

Please note that children are not allowed in the concession stand. I know this can be challenging from a babysitting perspective, but it’s designed to alleviate problems.

Please contact me with any problems; Kristi Mack is the MCLL concession stand chairman.

Picture Day

Pictures will be taken on Sunday, March 30. I will let you know where and when our time slot is after February 21. Please plan to have your child arrive fully dressed in uniform on time. This is imperative, because if the entire team is not present for the team photo, we will be bumped until the next available slot. If your child will not be at picture day, please let me know immediately. If your child would like to bring his glove or bat for his picture, please feel free to do so.

A photo order form is also included in this packet. The cost for 5x7 team and 4x5 individual photos are included in your registration fee (Package G), but if you wish to order additional photos please check the appropriate box and include a check made out to Nesossi Photography for the appropriate amount, including tax. Everyone needs to fill out a form whether or not they order additional photographs. Please return both the form and the money to me by February 20.

Grand Slam Gala

Missouri City Little League’s annual Grand Slam Gala will be held on Saturday, May 3 at Sweetwater Country Club. This event is designed to raise funds for our children’s little league experience; this year’s goal is to raise the remainder of the funds necessary to construct our permanent concession stand. This year’s theme has not been announced yet, but it will consist of a live and silent auction, dinner and open bar, casino and DJ. From the parents we would like two things – your attendance and any auction items you can donate. From the team perspective, the [team name]will be donating a themed basket for the silent auction, but if you have any other items you would like to donate, please let me know. A list of suggested items is included in this packet, as is an informational flyer on the gala itself. Tickets will go on sale on opening day at the fields. Try to join us – it’s always a blast!
