Chairman’s Announcements

CT has resigned from the Council. Ben Eddolls is standing in as chair of Planning Committee. BE expressed appreciation for the work done by CT.

Comments arising:

Tall Trees application 14/04138/OUT. This was rejected by the planners. Access had not been particularly commented on although a comment was made that the site was too from the town by foot, 2 storey building was not liked. The applicant was invited to resubmit with a larger site.

Bretton House appeal now to be held on 31 March at 10am for 3 days. AW and CT to attend.

Clerk to contact Finlayson who are objecting on behalf of CDC, and the Brethren to coordinate responses.

Minutes of Last Meeting

Minutes of the Planning Committee Meeting held on 22 January 2014 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chairman Proposed SG, Seconded SC– 3 in favour
Minutes of the Planning Committee Meeting held on 5 February 2014 were approved as a correct record by the two councillors present at that meeting. (SC/AW)

Matters Arising

14/02444/FUL Ashton House Union Street. Meeting to be arranged Nigel Moor to discuss parking and Local Transport Review (note: NM to attend next Traffic and Parking meeting 17th March)

14/00188/FUL Stow Agricultural Services Lower Swell Road. CDC have amended the notice to read 21 appartments instead of 17. Consultation period to end 12 March. Clerk to find out if GCC intend to object.

Local Plan. Letter CCDL0056 was approved by council.

  • The following sites were identified which the Town Council would like to submit for consideration as Green Spaces:
  • QE2 Field
  • King Georges Field
  • Wraggs Row
  • Fountain Green
  • The Stocks Green
  • The Shrubbery (triangle of grass at the bottom of Digbeth Street)

Full Application for Single storey extension at rear to enlarge kitchen and dining room

BE declared an interest.

b) 15/00239/FUL The Rear Of Barclays Bank House The Square (11 March 2015)

Full Application for Renewal of planning permission Ref 08/03257/FUL & 08/03259/CON for 'removal of single storey structure and erection of new dwelling with parking'

STC object to the application on the following grounds:

  • Loss of parking spaces. Removing the banks parking will potentially lose 10 parking spaces.
  • Vertical timber boarding was not considered in keeping with the local vernacular
  • There was concern about increased building density
  • This is not a renewal but a new application as the previous permission has lapsed.
  • The site location plans are out of date and inaccurate
  • 2 years ago a mature yew tree was illegally cut down to make way for the development.

c)14/05399/ADV & 14/05681/LBC Old Stocks Hotel The Square (09 Mar 2015)

To remove existing facade lighting and signage and replace with new lighting and signage that suits the refurbished hotel interior and branding.Revised plans received 18/02/2015 New details have been received for the above application which relate primarily to:

STC request to meet applicant.

Check that Conservation Officer is being consulted.

STC object to the application.

Still not happy with circular sighs or lighting. The design is not in keeping with the traditional character of the square

Post Office relocation

Clerk to contact Phil Ralph to find out what his proposals are for storage. There was concern about rubbish being stored in the alley behind the shop.

Find out about services that are no longer being provided ie passport checking and international parcels. Also what will happen to undelivered parcels.

Walk about arranged to look at signs around the town. Meeting 10am, Sunday 1 March, Coffee House in Digbeth Street.

Bell Inn benches; A letter has been drafted to send to the owners regarding the excessive number of new tables and benches. To be agreed by Parks committee.
