President’s Leadership, Coaching, Officiating – all are interconnected and inspire hardwork and result in success

Remarks:

Old business:1. Harry Penny update – back in Good Samaritan Hospital with an infection – will be back in Oakdale. He will not run for re-election as Vice President

2. LITF Convention – Convention @ Hofstra University from7 – 10. Will advise Office Manager to send

out Call to Convention and notice to the membership. Election for President, 2 Vice Presidents, Secretary

& Treasurer. Rich Degnan is a member of the Nominations Committee and will be accepting

nominations.

3. Team USA Coaching Education – the link still works, should still join, excellent updates

New business:

  1. New sanction fee schedule from National office – Sue moved that the Association fee be raised accordingly. Seconded by Rich. This motion was tabled – moved by Gary seconded by Sue – to allow Rob to compare old structure with a new proposed one.
  2. Strollers & Baby Joggers – These rules are for National Championships – national rules are used as a framework for local races; Grand Prix races are strong advised… but not enforceable – will chnge the language in GP rules, this will be discussed at the September LDR meeting.
  3. Suspensions by USATF National Office – Women’s T&F Chair suspended at Olympic Trials; the Youth Executive Board was also suspended; the Board agreed to nominate Lauren Primerano as temporary Youth Chair until the election in December at the Annual meeting.
  4. Hershey Youth 2018 Indoor and Outdoor in New York
  5. Certification is required for laser measurement.

Committee Reports:

Track & Field (Rich) – Summer Series– only 3 meets but all fairly successful. The tracks that caused the shortened series will be available for next summer; Hoka One 1 mile is on Wednesday 31st – there is no curb – cones will be used; there should be a USATF certified official as the starter; winter series – we had 4 meets in 2015, will have to wait for SUNY to give us dates; JO’s 2017 on Long Island – Alex will have a meeting with Nassau County on Sept 8th; Track & Field exploding on LI – school administration cannot keep up; Pre-Season clinics @ Island trees Sept 18 thru Nov 8

LDR(Alex) – Sue & Alex finally got check from Nassau County for XC Grand Prix. 2016 to be submitted which will be approved. Farmingdale Mile on Saturday which is also Association Championships – 6 Grand Prix races left

Distance Development (Fred) – Extremely great summer; about 9 disabled athletes with the program. New contract for September with Farmingdale College for practices

Race Walk (Mary Ann)– Maria Michta 22nd in Rio; Molly 6th & Katie 9th at the Olympic Trials; Kathy Newhoff had surgery. Elite 1 mile Race Walk at Hoko One Mile @ 8:15 – Men vs Women; National 10K Championships Sept 18 & National 30K Championships Nov 6 – both at the Dennison Building in Hauppauge

MUT (Carl) – next MUT event 6 hr race 10/16/16 – Trail Run at Sunken Meadow Park

Masters (Rob)–Vicki Fox National Champion in the Heptathlon; Roxanne placed in the 100m hurdles & 400m – she was competing at the local meets for about 2 seasons, but doing well on the National scene; Kathy Martin was champion in everything over 800m; Carryl Sens Griffith won the javelin. Still calculating the Grand Prix

Youth (Sheryl) – there has been an uptick in inquiries about track teams since the Olympics; Marc Nesbitt, coach of Athletic Nesbitt, suspended his team for a while and asked about teams to send his parents; cannot use medals that have “Junior Olympics”on them for anything other than JO meets such as Association Championships; upcoming XC meets – 10/9 Bellmore PAL Invitational; 10/23 2K Challenge; 11/6 Association Championships – all at Wantagh Park

Officials(George) – NY held an officials clinic (not certification) – quite a large turnout of approx 100; Long

Island needs to have certification for weights and measures; there is no information as yet about recertification

for the new Olympiad; Summer Series used about 27 different officials

Records (Alex) – ½ marathon 1:16.11 Jodi Robertson; 5k 16.38 Lenora Patrina

Outreach – needs to be revamped

Jessica Petrina offered her services for Sports Research.
