Meeting started at 7:45 pm

Attendees: Alex Cuozzo, Rob Lemke, Sheryl Hall, Bridget McCann, Pam Lee, Mary Ann Harvey, Rich Degnan, Gary Westerfield, Fred Benlein, Sue Polansky

Budget & Bank balance 4/1/16 = $8,752.61 + $4,000 approx to be deposited; still have a few uncashed checks; need

Finance: to get sponsors; there was a Labor audit which went well; need to send 1099 to officials; still no check

from Nassau County

Membership:1420 individuals, 48 clubs & organizations

President’s Need to pull together – cannot have a skeleton crew at events

Remarks:

Old business:1. Association Accreditation – passed basic accreditation

2. Harry Penny – will be moving to a ½ way house for Rehab in Commack; movement in extremities;

knees bend – no real strength; operation to relieve tremors; he’s in good spirits. Need to set up “Go

Fund” for expenses- Mike Polansky will be able to help set up; also fundraisers

3. USATF Association Marketing Kit – ordered

4. USATF Association Network Website program – new face of USATF branding

New business:1. USATF Associations Committee Stipend for Club Promotion – received $100

Committee Reports:

Track & Field (Rich) – Hauppauge coming off list of summer tracks due to construction – Island Trees added; Glen Cove might need to be replace; Sachem has a new AD known to USATF; Long Island Coaches Association (USATF Organization) comprised of 1 representative from Nassau Coaches, 1 from Suffolk Coaches and 1 from the Catholic Coaches – Selected Long Island Team of the Year – Boys Team was Huntington and the Girls Team was Sachem; USATF National meet under Hershey Banner gave out backpacks to all competitors and championship rings to winners.

LDR (Alex) – 10K Championship on Saturday was cold & wet but ok, need more literature for the tables; printed 400 more brochures; next race 4/10 Marcie Mazzola in Huntington.

Distance Development (Fred) – numbers highest in the winter months; hoping to be back on F’dale State track 4/5 – waiting for exemption from legal department

Race Walk (Mary Ann) – Maria set another American record in the 20K; at the Asian Championships was 5th and tied American record; Katie Michta missed Olympic Trial standard by 11 secs; Newhoff will be off for a year because of hip injury and will not be going to Rome; Annual NYAC Race Walk on the track just for HS – Lauryn Harris won the race and Tara Mandel was 2nd

Masters (Rob) – Indoor records updated; getting GP brochure ready for the Spring/Summer meets

Youth Athletics (Sheryl) – Received bill for GN facility use for Association Youth Championships and cost of groundskeeper. Sent email to Long Beach with event coupon for Spring Opener for their athletes.

Para-athletics (Fred) – Int’l organization put on XC Championships at Sunken Meadow – no results. Nothing

done about the local committee

Coaching Education (Fred) –Coaching Ed has become a business – 2 weeks after LI school there will be a

school at Yale University in CT

Newsletter – News, pictures etc for newsletter should be sent in by the end of the week.
