Present: John, Helen, Tash, Kelly, Amanda.

Quiz night

John wants the Swanage School to be the heart of the community, so wants as many people to attend as possible. There needs to be a huge effort to advertise the event and get the word out there. It was agreed that there will be a charge of £2 for adults and 50p for kids to include canapés. There will also be nibbles on the table. As usual there will be a raffle so if anyone has anything to donate please either drop it off at the school or bring it on the night. John will be the quiz master, Helen ran through the beverage stock and Ryan Norman has kindly offered to ordered more for us.

Amanda will find out if she can have a key to open the school on Saturday night and ask if she can post the event on the school web page.

Helen is going to arrange the ‘buy a square’ game and activity sheets for the kids. She will also create an event on the PTA Facebook page.

John is going to check the PA system at the school to make sure he knows how to use it and that it works.

A concern was raised about the lack of communication we have with the school. Various emails have been sent but no reply received. We need to have a teacher representative attend each meeting, this will improve communication and relationships with the school and PTA.

Also trying to get more parents to come to the meetings. Tash suggested changing the days of meeting to see if more will come.

Update

Helen still hasn’t received the money from the MUFTI day that was held and 2 cheques given to the school have not been cashed by the school. Helen is going to arrange with Jackie and Maria closing the HSBC bank account.

Leslie Chapman popped into the meeting briefly and informed us that she is officially leaving the PTA group however will still be able to help out at events.

Finances

The Alladin show made £483 profit.

Total amount in bank account is £1739. It was agreed that we will leave this to build up to a bigger amount and then consider what it will be spent on.

Other events

Amanda will ask Mr Hobson if we can have a MUFTI and cake sale on the 22nd March £1 for MUFTI and 50p for cake, hopefully the staff will sell the cakes. Parent will need to be ask to donate these. She also suggested to a ‘colour run’ which would be great fun. Amanda will liaise with Mr Lewis to see if this would be possible. Kids to wear white or light coloured top and PTA will sell ice creams afterwards.

We need ask if MR peacock would be interested in running a gaming competition, kids challenge each other on an xbox/ PSP. Children will pay to enter the competition and PTA will sell drinks and sweets.

PTA would like to run the raffle at the Grease show. Amanda will ask if this would be possible and ask the schools thoughts about not having a summer fete and see if they suggest doing something else.

Next meeting 1st March 7pm Globe
