Announcements: Title 1 meeting will be on Thursday 10/2 @ 7 - 8:30 PM, Dillard High School

SMART Initiative: Principal Perezdiscussed General Obligation Bond which would provide Broward County Public Schools with $800 million dollars to invest in critical needs across the district. This will appear as a General Obligation Bond referendum. It will not state ‘SMART’ which is the Broward county portion of the initiative. SMART is an acronym for Safety, Music & Art, Athletics, Renovations and Technology.

RES (Ramblewood Elementary School) would receive $3,262,000 from the bond broken down below. Additional Information can be found at the Broward Schools website: ‘browardschools.com’

FCAT: Assistant Principal Thornberry reviewed the FCATA scores listed below. Additional topics discussed: Science has been a 5th grade burden and needs to be distributed to younger grades. Science was also decompartmentalized due to the Common Core curriculum.

SIP: Mission Statement: Our mission is to increase achievement for ALL students through effective instruction. Assistant Principal Thornberry reviewed the SIP (School Improvement Plan). Discussed were the classification changes of schools by socio-economic status ‘Bands’. RES has been assigned to ‘Band 5’. As a part of the SIP RES will identify 3 schools in ‘Band 5’ which are more highly ranked and review success that could be implemented here at RES. Additionally, RES is to review a past ‘BEST Practice’ and expand on it to further improve our rating in the Band. More information can be found at the Broward School’s site: ‘browardschools.com’
