Learning outcomes(Level B1 of the Common European Framework for Languages)Entry Level: A2 of the Common European Framework for Languages.

After three terms, upon regular attendance, students should be able to perform at level B1 of the Common European Framework.

By the end of the year and upon regular attendance, students will be able to deal with ease with familiar matters encountered in professional, academic and social settings. They will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in a francophone area. They will be able to produce written work using essential features of the French language. They will be able to describe experiences and personal thoughts on familiar topics

  • Functions: Talking about relationships. Describing people. Talking about changes
  • Grammar:Relative pronouns. Revision of présent, passé composé and imparfait. Time phrases: il y a, dans, pendant.
  • Topics:L’amitié, le voisinage. A contemporary writer.

  • Functions: Talking about your studies or your job; Looking for a job. Giving advice (professional context).
  • Grammar: Plus-que-parfait; Impératif; Subjonctif (introduction)
