The February 24, 2006, Office of the City Manger report 2006CMC022 was distributed at the meeting and a copy was filed at the Office of the City Clerk.

The March 1, 2006, Office of the City Manager report 2006CMC027 was distributed at the meeting and a copy was filed at the Office of the City Clerk.
I.1.n.Public Submissions to the Independent Council Compensation Committee

That Administration proceed to advertise for public input asking the question:
“What do you think is adequate compensation to attract a full range of citizens from all walks of life to serve on City Council?”

I.1.o.Additional Research Required
The Committee directed Administration to:
a)Contact Alberta Municipal Services Corporation for details on their full benefit package for Council, the monthly costs, and the portion that Councillors and the City of Edmonton pay.
b)Contact Alberta Municipal Services Corporation to find out the costs of providing Councillors with a pension plan, equivalent to the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
c)Contact the City of Calgary for details about their benefit plan, the costs for administering their pension plan for Elected Officials, and why they withdrew from the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association pension plan.
d)Contact the Alberta Government for details on their benefit plan for Management, and compare to the City of Edmonton’s Management plan highlighting any discrepancies, including costs.
e)Research why Elected Officials are not eligible to receive Unemployment Insurance benefits.
f)Provide an analysis of the contributions that would need to be made to an RRSP to provide a benefit equal to one that would be provided through the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
