METHOD STATEMENT FOR COO-VAR WB101
2 PACK ANTI-GRAFFITI COATING
DESCRIPTION
Coo-Var WB101 Anti-Graffiti Coating is a two-pack isocyanate/polyacrylic dispersion water based surface sealer that has good impact and abrasive properties when applied to masonry surfaces. It has a gloss finish.
TYPICAL INSTALLATIONS
Coo-Var WB101 Anti-Graffiti Coating can be used in areas where low odour coatings are required e.g. Hospitals, inside Public Buildings.
SUBSTRATES
Coo-Var WB101 Anti-Graffiti Coating adheres well to sound concrete and brickwork. It can also be applied to sound existing paintwork.
SURFACE PREPARATION
It is essential that all surfaces are laitence free, clean, dry and free from any contaminants such as loose particles, dust, grease, oils, fats and water.
PRIMING
It is not necessary to prime all surfaces before application. On extremely porous surfaces, however (e.g. Breezeblock), sealing of the surface with 2-4 coats of a suitable coating first may be necessary.
MIXING
Coo-Var WB101 Antigraffiti Coating is packed in pre-measured units and should not be split further. Add contents of small container (Hardener) into contents of large container (base) and mix thoroughly using a Jiffy type paddle fitted to a slow speed drill making sure mixing action takes in full perimeter of container to eliminate any soft spots caused by unmixed resins. The resultant mixed product will be milky white in appearance. This dries to a clear finish. USE UP ALL THE PAINT ONCE MIXED, ANY MIXED PAINT REMAINING WILL “FOAM”. TO PREVENT PRESSURE BUILD UP, DO NOT LID THE CAN, INSTEAD PLACE THE CAN IN A LARGER CONTAINER IN A SAFE AREA TO CATCH THE FOAM AND DISPOSE OF SAFELY.
APPLICATION
Air temperature 5-30C, humidity less than 85% non-condensing conditions, by brush or roller. Spray application is possible with protective measure.
COVERAGE
Coo-Var WB101 Anti-Graffiti Coating covers 5 ½ -7 ½ square metres per kilo. Coo-Var WB101 Anti-Graffiti Coating is supplied in 5-kilo units.
MAINTENANCE
Coo-Var WB101 Anti-graffiti Coating can be easily cleaned using conventional and proprietary cleaning methods. To facilitate cleaning it is essential not to allow dirt to build up.
CURE SCHEDULE
Coo-Var WB101 Anti-Graffiti Coating will become clear in one or two house and will generally be tack free overnight. Full cure is achieved in three to seven days under ambient conditions. Pot life is 2-3 hours depending on the prevailing conditions and the storing of the mixed product.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Coo-Var WB101 Anti-Graffiti Coating has good resistance to a wide range of chemicals and solvents.

HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
Coo-Var resin bases and hardeners are generally harmless in use provided that certain precautions normally taken when handling chemicals are observed. The uncured materials must not be allowed to come into contact with foodstuffs or food utensils, and measures should also be taken to prevent skin contact, since people with sensitive skin may be affected. The use of protective clothing, barrier cream, gloves and goggles is recommended. The skin should be thoroughly washed at the end of each working period, using either soap and warm water or resin removing creams. Do not wash the skin with cleaning solvents. Adequate ventilation in the working area is recommended. In case of accidental mouth or eye contact wash thoroughly with clean water and if in any doubt – consult a doctor immediately.
