Method of Independent Learning for 2007-2008

Each co-ordinator contact the colleagues at school and ask them to help creating a method of “Independent learning”.

The meaning is that the colleagues search out in the curriculum of their subject what items can be connected to the E.U. and (European) Citizenship.

Then for these items, in stead of normal teaching, the teacher writes down tasks for the pupils. These tasks should be forfilled with the help of the booklets published by the European Union(**), the internet (eg the websites with information about the E.U. (***)) and the school or local library.

The tasks have to have the same result as when the teacher should teach: the pupils have to learn more about… , only the system changes into a method of “Independent learning”.

The teacher also writes down how he/she wants to have the results (a report, a powerpoint presentation,…) and how she/he will evaluate the results.

Each coordinator starts searching for cooperating colleagues already this last months of this school year.

TIMESCHEME

Final date / We will have reached
25/09/2007 / Each coordinator mail Rob for what subjects (history, geography, English,…) they found a colleague whom is prepared to cooperate in the project.
The preferences goes to teachers who teach subjects to pupils of the age of 16-18 years old, if you can’t find these participants you can ask teachers that teach the subject to younger pupils.
30/9/2007 / Rob will inform each coordinator for what subjects we have in which schools cooperating colleagues. He will also announce for what (important) subject(s) we don’t have cooperation yet. So we all can try to find one.
16/10/2007
(proj.meet. Sosnowiec) / From each school we expect from each cooperating teacher for his subject:
FOR SURE:A list of tasks,
IF POSSIBLE: a list of possible used booklets and websites, the way he expect to have the results and how he intend to evaluate it.
30/11/2007 / In all schools the list of possible used booklets and websites, the way he expect to have the results and how he intend to evaluate it, should be ready and mailed to Rob.
31/03/2208 / In all schools per subject the method of independent learning should be tried out by the teacher and the “conclusions, feelings, remarks,…” should be collected by the coordinator.
What was good, what should we change? (probably how should we change it?)
21/04/2008
(proj.meet. Castano Primo) / Each coordinator brings all information to the project meeting.
In Castano Primo we bring all information (*) together and write the whole project of “Independent learning” which we will try out in all schools in 2008-2009.

(*)

How will we put the information in “scheme”?

FOR EACH SUBJECT WE MAKE A NEW SCHEME

NAME OF THE SUBJECT (history, sport, …) / Age of the students (16-18)
The list of the tasks / What was good? / What should be changed? (and how?)
Description of task 1 / Remarks task 1 / Remarks task 1
Description of task 2 / Remarks task 2 / Remarks task 2

General conclusion of the teacher / What was good? / What should be changed? (and how?)

At the project meeting in Castano Primo we can bring this information together per subject.

Afterwards we’ll bring all subjects together in one project that we’ll try out in 2008-2009.
