Role: Health and Wellbeing Support Co-ordinator

Salary: £18,000 pro rata. (Actual is £14,400)

Location:Based in Liverpool but working across Merseyside

Contract: 12 months with potential to extend

Hours: 28 hours per week ( 4 days)

Report: to the Director

A satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required for this role

Use of a car would be beneficial.

Purpose

  • Improve the wellbeing and mental health of women asylum seekers and refugees.
  • Offer information, advice and guidance, coaching, health promotion, wellbeing and mental health workshops.
  • Signpost and refer to appropriate services.

Job Description

MRANG is a women only charity working with women and child refugees. We offer a full range of support services. The Health and Wellbeing Programme is a new project and as such MRANG is currently recruiting for a Health and Wellbeing Support Co-ordinator to deliver this project. This is an exciting, challenging and varied post with the flexibility to develop the role further.

The main requirements of the role:

  • To be responsible for MRANG’s Health and Wellbeing Programme.
  • To work with other organisations and partners in the promotion of health and wellbeing.
  • To plan, design, facilitate and deliver health and wellbeing workshops.
  • To work directly with service users to support them to improve their health.
  • To ensure pre and post-natal women are supported and have access to resources.
  • To increase the voice of the women by advocating on their issues and needs to a wider audience.
  • To offer direct one to one support to women with complex needs.
  • Use the Outcomes Star and Lamplight Case Management System to record and measure hard and soft outcomes.
  • To communicate results and issues by compiling statistics, writing reports, use of social media, speaking at events and attending and participating in MRANG’s, and external, events.
  • Build strong and effective links with providers of health services in the statutory and voluntary sectors and refer service uses into these services as appropriate.
  • Support MRANG to develop awareness of health and wellbeing issues faced by women refugees.
  • Promote good health and well-being by the sharing of information on promotional activities and initiatives.
  • Source and attend regional health networks and forums.
  • Manage and co-ordinate health and wellbeing volunteers.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records, protecting at all times the confidential nature of the information given.
  • Ensure that any safeguarding concerns are identified and reported.
  • To actively promote the project and consider ways to improve and expand the service.

Person Specification

Reminder – this is a women only role

  • You will possess a recognised qualification in social/health care.
  • An understanding of the health issues facing women and child refugees.
  • Knowledge of health, wellbeing and mental health problems and awareness of treatments and services available and how to access them.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable and marginalised people with complex health needs.
  • Experience or an understanding of carrying out needs and risk assessments.
  • Able to communicate effectively with different groups using a variety of media.
  • Excellent case management skills with the ability to carry out reviews and appraise the development of service users and report on your findings.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to manage a complex and varied workload including, case management, delivering working shops, networking and reporting.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection policies and procedures.
  • Excellent networking skills with the ability to advocate on behalf of service users and MRANG and source and attend regional health networks and forums
