Melbourne East Netball Association Competition Rules

1. All players must be Netball Australia registered prior to playing.

Note: We MENArecommend that registration occurs prior to training. Registration is through MyNetball website or Single Game Voucher at the HE Parker office. Players are not covered by Netball Victoria insurance unless they are registered.

  1. 2. Registrations of nNew players who have registered after the commencement of the season and/or players who are filling in for another team are also to be recorded on the back of the scoresheet.

As per rule 1, all must be registered before taking the court.

  1. 3. To be eligible for the Open Section, players must be 15 years of age before the 31st December of the year playing.
  1. Players many not wear anything that could endanger themselves or other players, specifically:
  2. No adornment or jewellery may be worn other than a wedding ring which must be covered with tape.

  1. 4. Fingernails shall be cut short and smooth or taped with correct tape prior to the game commencing. In general j
  1. A medical alert bracelet may be worn provided it is covered with tape.
  2. Hair must be suitably tied back.
  3. Beads may only be worn if secured TIGHTLY against the head with no movement possible.
  1. Correct Club uniform, as registered by the relevant club with MENA, must be worn on court at all times.
  1. 6. Each team must provide a scorer. SCORERS MUST STAND TOGETHER. MENA will supply an official score sheet which must be collected from the Pavilion by the HOME team prior to the game. After the game the completed scoresheet is to be handed into the office immediately by the WINNING team.

7. Where a match is cancelled:

after half a game or more has been played, then the score at the point of stopping the match is the final result; or.

8. Where a timeslot match is cancelled, by MENA for health and safety of participants, or does not reach half a game of play, no result is achieved.

This match may be replayed the following week in a shorter versionrevised format, that is,(e.g. 2 x 10 minute halves). may be played in place of the cancelled game the following week. The game that is scheduled to be played the following week may also be played as a shortened version revised format, to accommodate two matches being played on the same day.

Note: the decision to determine if a game will be replayed rests with MENA and the decision is final.of 2 x 10 minute halves.

9. Where a whole day’s play is cancelled, it may be played the following week as a shorter version as well as the fixtured game. Melbourne East Netball Association Competition Rules

  1. 10.Teams may make unlimited substitutions at breaks ¼, ½ and ¾ breaks in the game, however a maximum of twelve (12) players are permitted to play in any one match. game.
  1. 11. The 9 & UnderNetSetGo (9 & Under) Competition shall be played as a modified matchunder modified rules as per the MENA NetSetGo 9 & UnderUunder Policy.
  1. A Central time system shall time all matches.

12. All matches,except gGrading matches shall comprise four 10-minute quarters with a one minute break at quarter-times and a three minute break at halftime apart from when the MENA Heat Policy is enactedapplies or any other reason as determined by the Competition Convenor where the health and wellbeing of participants may be affected.

  1. Match Results:

Grading/Season

  1. After half a game or more has been played, then the score at the point of stopping the match is the final result; or
  2. Where a match is cancelled, by MENA for health and safety of participants, or does not reach half a game of play, no result is achieved.
  3. This match will not be replayed.
  4. If no result is achieved, the match will be considered a draw and points awarded to each team.

Semi Final

  1. After half a game or more has been played, then the score at the point of stopping the match is the final result; or
  2. Where a match is cancelled, by MENA for health and safety of participants, or does not reach half a game of play, no result is achieved.
  3. This match will not be replayed.
  4. If no result is achieved, the first and second placed teams on the ladder at the end of the season will go through to the Grand Final.

Grand Final

  1. after half a game or more has been played, then the score at the point of stopping the match is the final result; or
  2. Where a match is cancelled, by MENA for health and safety of participants, or does not reach half a game of play, no result is achieved.
  3. This match will be replayed on the scheduled emergency Grand Final Date
  4. Where the replayed Grand Final match is cancelled, by MENA for health and safety of participants, or does not reach half a game of play, no result is achieved.
  5. The top ranked team at the end of the season will be awarded first place and the second ranked team second.
  1. 15. Players may only play for one (1) club during a season, unless granted clearance by the Association. Players may play (3) games in total in a higher age, grade or section but once they have played the fourth (4th) game they will be regarded as belonging to the team in which they played their 4 th game for the remainder of the season (including finals).
  1. 17. In order to qualify to play finals:
  2. a player must have played four (4) regular season games for the team they will be playing for in the finals.
  3. a player must be a fully paid financial member of the club.
  1. Boys may participate as per the Boys Netball Policy.
  1. 18. The venue is a non-smoking area during competition/events.
  1. 19. The venue is drug and alcohol free during competition/events.
  1. 20. Committee and Convenors will have the right to interpret the rules due to circumstances which may arise on the day of play.
  1. 21. Breaches of these rules could result in the loss of points and to the teams score. For more details on breaches, refer to the MENA by laws.
