MEETING HIGHLIGHTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Buddy Walk Fundraiser is to be held on October 4th at Golden Valley High School, WES BARTELL reminded the club. The event is to raise awareness and understanding for the problems associated with “Down Syndrome” children. Wes sent out an email to everyone with 3 choices: walk as an individual, sponsor him, or walk as part of the BNR team. Please get back to Wes as soon as possible. GREG BYNUM had no more information for us on the upcoming Wine Tasting Fundraiser to be held on November 22nd. JACOB PANERO filled us in on our next social event. “Politics and Pasta” will be held on election night, November 4th at 6PM at Luigi’s for a chicken and tri-tip dinner. The cost is $25 per person and anyone interested should contact Jacob. SCOTT TOBIAS informed everyone that we are planning our annual noon meeting with the North High Interact Club on October 21st. Be sure to mark calendars for that Off-site meeting. Guest Rotarian CAROL COHEN told the club about a project to build a ½ basketball court at the Rescue Mission. She asked the club to consider contributing money to this project, along with some other Rotary Clubs in town, and explained that district and RI matching funds would multiply our investment. CHRIS FRAZIER talked about the Literacy Project and said they are looking at two options for our club to get involved. One – serving as community readers, and two – fundraising to buy a full set of six books for each child to have at home. Prez Ira said that we would consider the project. KIRK HESSLER is a new grandfather to Evan David Cline, born 2 weeks ago and weighing in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces. In BNR tradition, a collection from club members totaled $339 which Kirk will have to match and set up a college fund.
