The 18th Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG1 meeting was opened at 9:15am, Monday, December 6, 1999, at the Outrigger Maui Hotel, Maui, Hawaii, USA. The meeting was hosted and organized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the member organizations of NCITS L3, with financial support from IBM Content Solutions Division and Microsoft Corporation.

    The following reports were issued by the WG1 Webmaster, Mr. Richard Clark (UK).

A fee of USD50 was collected from all members that attended the meeting for the suppor
of the WG1 Web-site

A steering committee to agree to develop guidelines for financial sponsorship of the JPEG Web sites in line with the recommended proposal in WG1N1558. Mr. Jean Barda (France) as chair of the PR AHG is appointed to chair this committee, which should make proposals in time for the Tokyo meeting of WG1. National bodies were also asked to consider changing the file name extension of JPEG 2000 as stated in the Resolution 29.
