Location: Princes Rd Nursery (KIMC) / Salary/ Salary Band:£16,251 pro rata
Hours of work: 16hours per week, Term time Only / Date of Profile creation/revision: November 15
Background / Purpose of Role
To provide daily morning snack/lunch provision at full day care Princes Road Nursery, catering for children aged 6 months
to 4 years.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
General
Ensure cleaning routines are completed appropriately and the kitchen consistently provides a scrupulously clean and organised space.
Clear, wash and store children’s crockery, cutlery, and cooking equipment requiredby the end of each shift.
Ensure the appropriate storage and rotation of stock items.
Have responsibility for liasing with Nurseries Manager in ordering and maintainingaccurate stock levels for the menu plan.
There is a bi-weekly on-line order made, it is the responsibility of the Cook to locally purchase fresh goods in the alternate week.
Maintain cleanliness in the Kitchen, including the cooking equipment, work surfaces, floor, fridge and freezers
Any other task as required by the Nurseries Manager which are consistent with the post.
Help to ensure through good working practices that the objectives, values and aims of the college/nursery are achieved on time.
Health and Safety
  • Comply with internal and external health and safety guidelines, instructions and regulations, e.g. Environmental Health, Ofsted.
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner, observing health and safety requirements, including those relating to food hygiene.
Customer service/quality related
  • An awareness of the importance of the children’s dietary requirements, with regard to health and culture.
  • Meet the minimum Food Hygiene standard related for this level of post.

  • Experience of working in a customer service environment.
  • Experience of complying with Health & Safety Guidelines.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of meals on a rotating menu plan, with attention to the children’s dietary requirements.
  • Ability to prepare the morning snack/lunch meals meeting the timescales of the daily routineof the nursery
  • Experience of operating stock control systems ensuring adequate levels of supplies are maintained.
  • Hold a current Food Hygiene Certificate.
