Bendigo Health has taken delivery of a new resuscitation cot as a result of funds raised from the 2012 Give Me 5 For Kids local campaign.
Bendigo Health Women’s and Children’s Services manager Fiona Faulks said campaigns such as Give Me 5 For Kids allow the service to access state of the art equipment.
“These cots ensure our infants receive the best possible care,” Ms Faulks said.
“They provide a safe and secure environment for our newborns and ensure that their stay in hospital is as comfortable as it can be.”
Bendigo Health Foundation director Jane Anderson said Give Me 5 For Kids continues to grow in the community every year.
“It is through the generosity of those who contributed to Give Me 5 For Kids last year that we are able to purchase this much needed equipment – for that we say thank you to all involved,” she said.
Bendigo’s 3BO FM is the local driver of the national Give Me 5 For Kids campaign, which raises funds for child and adolescent services across the organisation.
Along with the purchase of a resuscitation cot, funds raised went towards purchasing other equipment including, X-Box consoles for children staying in the children’s ward and electronic sit scales for the paediatric clinic area.
Southern Cross Austereo and 3BO FM General Manager Jason Priestley said he is overwhelmed by the support of the Bendigo community and the support given by local businesses,” he said.
“To launch our 2013 appeal, Bendigo Bank and Telstra Business Centre have come on board as partners and have donated $15,000 each to the appeal.”
“Donations of this kind stand us in good stead to achieve our goal this year. Last year we raised well over $60,000 and already we have $30,000 which is simply outstanding.
“The appeal is something the 3BO team takes a lot of pride in and judging by the growth each year and support shown already we have set ourselves a goal to reach $100,000 by June 30.”
