Read through the EE Guide to ensure an understanding of all guidelines.

Brainstorm Research topics, develop your RQ Ideas
By November 21, 2014 /
  • Consider your choice of topic area and request permission from the appropriate Supervisor (subject specialist) to work with him/her. NOTE: It is suggested that each supervisor works with 3 – 5 students max., at their discretion. First come, first serve...
  • Take a copy of all relevant pages from the guide to your first meeting with your Supervisor.
  • Keep accurate records and trackreading/research process
  • Use Noodle for note-taking, bibliographies, ideas
  • Discuss RQ ideas
  • Continue to do research; consider experimental factors

By December 10th, 2014 /
  • Submit a copy of your signed Supervisor contract and your basic research question to Ms. Webb

By January 16th, 2015 /
  • Refine and focus RQ – pass in to Supervisor; copy to Ms. Webb
  • Pass in a list of 5 annotated research sources to Supervisor
  • Work out a reading bibliography/list of equipment required
  • Generally all experiments have been started; research well under way.

By February 13th, 2015 / Meet with your Supervisor to discuss essay process; experimental design if applicable; rough concept of essay should be sketched out by now

Interview with Ms. Webb / RC 2
PLUS:You should be almost finished any experimental design work/ collection of data, relative to your project.
Essay background work should be significant, relevant and extensive.
June 2015
Final Individual
Interview with Ms. Webb (if required) / PLUS: You should have one final meeting by mid-June with your supervisor. Your plan of action to complete your first essay draft should be clearly explained to and approved by your supervisor.
Be prepared to pass in your first draft by the end of the first full week of September, 2015.
Year 2
September ___th, 2015 / Pass in First Draft of your Extended Essay: electronic copy to both your Supervisor and Ms. Webb, and a paper copy to supervisor.
*** Schedule Review and Feedback appointment with Supervisor.
By End of October, 2015 /
  • Student/Supervisor Meeting for discussion, revision comments, review originality report
  • Any concerns, see Ms. Webb

Oct – Dec, 2015 /
  • Refine essay and complete the final draft.

January 2016, by end of first week
(Year 2) / Submit a Final Draft of the EE to your Supervisor for Assessment
(Opt.) Feedback Interview

Student fills out cover sheet; Supervisor completes comments
By Mid February 2016 / Supervisor prepares Predicted Grade, Comments on cover sheet; Submission of TWO hard copies and ONE electronic Word Doc. of Final EE with all documentation to Ms. Webb. File “Your Name EE”
